Disappointing Experience: Could Have Been a 5-Star Restaurant! My wife and I were truly excited to try out this place. We could see that the owner invested time in ensuring the quality of their items. However, we couldn't fully enjoy what could have been an amazing dining experience with just a few changes. Let's address the negatives first. The meat on our beef plate was dry. We're not sure if the employees working that day were unaware of quality control or if this is a regular occurrence. Also, the amount of sauce on the rice was disappointingly small (half a teaspoon) We were left wanting more, as it would have enhanced the flavor of the whole plate. Additionally, the portion of potatoes was laughable. Seven or so cubed potatoes were not enough, and to top it off, there was no sauce or seasoning either. Moving on to the chicken tandoori wrap we ordered. I was especially excited, having not had it in a long time. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly faded after the first bite. Again, there was a lack of sauce, and even if there was any, it barely touched my tongue. The wrap was mostly filled with mediocre french fries, with only a few veggies. The wrap was dry. Overall, our experience was thoroughly disappointing. On a positive note, the bread wrap itself was fresh and delicious. The restaurant had a decent atmosphere, and the service was okay. In conclusion, with improved quality control, larger sauce portions, and increased portion sizes, this restaurant has the potential to be a 4.5-star or higher establishment. However, based on our initial experience, we can only give it a 2-star rating. The lack of attention to these important aspects was a major letdown.

My husband and I have been coming to Taj Kabob for years (both locations), but we found ourselves extremely disappointed with our experience today. We haven’t been in a year, and since then, the portions are about 70% of what they used to be. We know times are tougher for everybody, but this is just unfair. Moreover, the food was excessively oily, and we were not served at the table as was the case in the past. I was also very disappointed that we were given plastic plates for the dine-in experience. In terms of the taste, the food tasted good, but the fact that the kabuli rice, which is one of the main reasons we like the restaurant, is $2 extra, is crazy to me!!! And in addition to the reduced portions, there was barely any sauce on the rice. Also, if you choose to get the lamb or chapli kebab, you will get an EVEN smaller portion and WILL leave hungry. The only positive is that the space is clean and is a calm place to eat. But that is not nearly enough reason to eat there.

It was our first experience trying some Afghan Street Food at Taj Kabob. They have a few different options for you to choose and we ordered from their Signature Plates Menu - Mixed Kabob Plate. We chose Lamb Tikka (marinated to perfection with a smoky flavour) and Beef Chapli Kabob (spicy ground beef patty style kabob)… served with rice topped with tomato korma sauce, naan, salad and a choice of side sauce. We also ordered some Afghan Mantu (10 dumplings filled with beef and spices, steamed to perfection and drizzled with garlic yogurt and tomato korma sauce) from the Shareables & Sides Menu. The dishes tasted absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the food very much. Interesting and authentic Afghan food at a reasonable price!

I was really excited to get take-out from this place with my friends. Upon entry, the decor was beautiful, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing.

First off, the portion sizes are very small. We ordered several plates, and all came with a very small portion of rice and kebab compared to what we are used to from other restaurants. Given the price, not worth it at all. In addition, one of the kebabs tasted old, as if it was about to go bad...

One member of our group also tried the tandoori chicken kebab. Unfortunately, she was disappointed as well. The size of the wrap was extremely small, and was wrapped in what appeared to be a small store-bought naan. The amount of fries in the wrap was also very little...

It's a shame because using the ingredients available to make these meals, this restaurant could be bringing out incredible food. Unfortunately, we left feeling that we wasted our money here. There was no value for money due to portion sizes and quality of food....

I really hope this location tries to improve on these points. I will not be bringing people to this...

I really wanted to try out this place as some people had said good things. We got there around 5:00 pm on a Sunday, it has room for seating which is nice. I ordered the tandoori chicken bowl and my Son ordered a watani bowl. We also ordered 2 mango smoothies.

The food didn’t take long at all as there were only 4 other people at the restaurant. When it came out, the food did look pleasant. I thought my bowl lacked flavour but also felt the portion size was decent for about $13.00. My Son thought his bowl was good but the beef was also a little fatty. The highlight was definitely the mango smoothie…it was delicious and would go back just to have that. I felt The service behind the counter lacked in hospitality as you would think someone as new to the restaurant and how long we were staring at the menu board would allow them to help us out or give recommendations. Not sure if I would go back for the food, would definitely go back for the smoothie. Our bill for 2 bowls, 2 smoothies came out to...
