This entire situation could have been avoided if your staff had simply explained things clearly from the start. We asked not once, but twice whether it was okay to order one hotpot and one combo dish and share—and both times, we were told it was perfectly fine.
We clearly explained to the male server that we both have small appetites and asked if there was a hotpot option suitable for light eaters. He said there wasn’t, but suggested that one person order the hotpot and the other order a dish, and that we could share them. It didn’t sit right with us, so we asked again—this time to the female server. She checked and came back confirming that it was allowed. That’s the only reason we placed our order the way we did.
When we went to get ingredients for the hotpot, we didn’t even fill the plate—just selected a few items, about half a plate. And we already had a full combo dish on the way, so that one plate was more than enough for both of us. If we had gone back for multiple plates, maybe I could understand the concern. But we didn’t even finish a single one.
And then out of nowhere, the male owner came over and completely humiliated us in front of other customers—telling us not to share, sighing loudly, smirking, mocking us with sarcastic laughter, and treating us like we were trying to cheat the restaurant. His behavior was outrageous—aggressive, condescending, and incredibly disrespectful.
We were absolutely shocked and furious. After that, we completely lost our appetite. We only took a one or two bite, left all the food untouched, and still paid the full bill before walking out.
Had you explained your policy properly in the first place, we would’ve had no issue paying the full price for the hotpot—expensive as it is—because we came to enjoy a meal, not be insulted. But the way the owner handled this was disgraceful. This wasn’t just poor service—it was a complete failure of basic decency.
Don’t try to hide behind your “policy.” A responsible owner listens, understands the situation, and treats customers with respect. None of that happened here. We simply did what your staff told us was okay, and we were treated like we were doing something wrong. That’s completely...
Read moreWe had heard that Signature Palace was now offering dim sum so we decided to stop in and try it. The interior of the restaurant is typical of most Chinese restaurants but the floor was very dirty. It looked like oil was soaked into the carpet and there was a lot of debris on it. There were also two ants crawling on our table and one smushed underneath the clear plastic table cloth. It wasn't a great first impression.
The washroom was nice and clean. Not too much to say about that.
Some parts of the food were pretty good and others were lackluster. We got beef brisket rice, stir fried rice, and some other noodle dishes. Those were all good. On to the dim sum.
The good: Shu Mei was large and tasty, the plain rice crepes were nicely prepared as well. BBQ pork buns, egg yolk buns, sesame seed balls, egg tarts, beef balls, honey egg twists, steamed spare ribs, salt and pepper squid tentacles were all also good and fairly priced.
The not-so-good: All of our rice crepes were over steamed and would fall apart when you tried to pick them up. They barely had any filling inside them either and were covered in green onion. The steamed chicken feet were tough but the sauce was good. I think they just needed to be cooked longer. The pan fried turnip cake was disappointing. I thought it would be Lo-Bak-Go but I think it was actually Wu-Tao-Go.
The service was pretty good and friendly. I ordered two dishes of chile sauce but when the waiter brought them, they each had about 1/2 cup of sauce in them. Not complaining but it seems like such a waste. Perhaps putting a smaller amount would save the restaurant some money.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience but I think that (a) getting the floor steam cleaned and (b) getting the cooking times on the above mentioned items right...
Read morePretty decent place for hot pot!
This is an AYCE hot pot place and a regular chinese restaurant I believe. I came for the hotpot which gives you individual pots instead of shared ones, which I liked. The selection is a lot smaller than Happy Lamb, but I still would go if I was in the area.
The main reason I like this place so much is because the sauce bar is much better than Happy Lamb’s — more options which I think it so important since the sauce is the most crucial part of the hotpot! And the soup base is richer here in my personal opinion. They also have unlimited CANS of soda which was great.
The only thing about this place is that a lot of their bowls and cutlery are kind of dirty — Everytime I have come, I always see a dirty bowl, plate, or fork, and they’re all self serve so all the utensils touch each other. If you are particular about this, then that’s something you should consider. Service is also just okay and if you go during slow hours, it’s EXTREMELY quiet in the restaurant (no music), so it gets kind of awkward. Owner is really really nice though.
Overall would go again but experience can be 50/50 if you’re expecting top notch service and cleanliness. It...
