The ChaatBar and Parontha Place — Restaurant in Calgary

Edit: i was hoping for the owner’s lashback on this as i saw your other replies as well. For your response on this review, i have filed a formal complaint to the better business bureau and service Alberta consumer complaint. Instead of responding professionally, the business owner publicly accused me of lying, threatened to post a video/image of me without my consent, and used abusive and sarcastic language.

This kind of behavior is unprofessional and harassing. I’ve attached screenshots of the response to this complaint. I’m asking that this behavior be documented and addressed. I owe a public apology and for the business to be advised to stop harassing customers who leave reviews.

This is not the first time this business has attacked reviewers online, as can be seen from other negative review responses. I believe it’s important for future customers to be protected from this kind of treatment. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME- DON’T COME HERE We reached 525 in the place, 535 order menu was handed, 545 order was placed. We ordered 3 items for 3 people- rehdi wali tikki chat, 1 kulcha and 1 jumbo burger. The tikki came in first- once that was finished by one of us, second item burger came in, once that was done, last guest got kulcha. We had asked kulcha to be well done, it came in soggy and unflavoured, only thing that was tasted in the kulcha was sweet tamarind sauce. At the beginning of our placing order- i specifically told the floor manager that last time service was so delayed despite the restaurant being not too busy and she assured us this time wouldn’t be the case, we came back because of good food despite garbage service, this time food was also garbage. Upon payment, i complained about the whole experience and the girls said well we made everything fresh and it takes time. I explained we came as a family to sit together and eat and didn’t get served at the same time; defeating the purpose of coming to a restaurant. This means, if they serve biryani- it will be served in 8 hours explaining they were putting “dum” to the biryani as its made fresh, girls are all over the place, poor management altogether, seems like their chef is also changed because food was tasteless and so was their response to complaint which is genuine from a customers point of view. Businesses crave customers and rush hours and this place doesn’t appreciate business. I told the girls i will be sharing my experience and to their response -“it will impact our job” i am so sorry if i am spending money at a restaurant and asking it to be good. Its high time management takes this concern seriously because if girls don’t change, instead of them losing their jobs, this place won’t be far from closing. I recently visited The ChaatBar. The overall experience was decent, but it had its ups and downs.

Ambiance: The ambiance is casual. It's a great place for a quick bite.

Food: The menu features a wide range of snacks. We tried three items Raj Kachori ⭐️⭐️ The Raj Kachori had an ok taste overall, however the size of the kachori was good compared to $9.99 price. Aloo/Onion Paratha ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The paratha was good in taste and the size of the paratha was great and its priced at $5.99! A great item for the price. Aloo-Chole Kulcha ⭐️ The stuffing in the kulcha was really cold and too salty in taste. Not trying this again.

They also have live pani-puri outside their restaurant and it was $10 for 10 pani-puris. Definitely not worth for the price and the taste of the panipuri if you are willing to pay for the experience of eating pani-puri similar to eating it in India then maybe it’s worth it. I wouldn’t do it again!

Service: Service was friendly. The staff were polite and accommodating.

Value: Prices are reasonable, offering good value for the variety and portion sizes. It's a great spot for an affordable snack outing, though some dishes could benefit from a bit more attention to detail.
