I went here years ago on a little date with my now ex and I never said anything back then, but I was sitting here and thinking about how much it still bothers me to this day, so I decided to say something. I'm a Mi'kmaq person, meaning while people in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland can tell I'm indigenous, people here out west can't tell because the indigenous people out here are vastly different in appearance from us back east.
A couple of local fellas were in the Wendy's sitting at tables while one of them ordered, the restaurant staff kept giving them weird looks, and I was watching from my table with my food. When another one of the men entered the restaurant, the manager came out, stared at them and exclaimed 'There's more of them!' and then went to call the police on them for just... sitting there while their friend ate? But she didn't do it to me, I assume it's because I don't look like the indigenous people she's used to seeing. The group of fellas didn't really react to her either, something told me they've dealt with that many times before. Another time I went here and an indigenous woman had passed out at one the tables and they called the cops on her for... sleeping? Instead of, y'know, waking her up and asking her to order or leave. She was wearing nice clothes and had her hair done up too, nothing about her warranted calling the police.
Anyway, long story short, this restaurant as of 3 years ago was extremely racist to all (visibly) indigenous patrons. I hope they've gotten new management that knows the difference between an actually dangerous person and indigenous folks, because I haven't gone back since, and I tell everyone I know about my experiences so if they're in the area, they know to...
Read moreWhere is the owner, and why are none of these horrible reviews being answered? This restaurant is disgusting, dirty and not friendly for handicapped persons. We arrived at the counter to order and the manger was so "huffy and puffy" she had to have another worker finish our order. She just assumed we wanted small fries and cokes, but we wanted medium fries and large chocolate frostys. Skip the dishes driver came in with a oversized orange bag which was filthy, put it on the counter. When the driver left they did not wipe the counter which is where the food is staged for pickup. The floor is so sticky from the doors to the seating and just disgusting sounds when people walk. The food was good and we sat to eat. A lady in a wheel chair came to the door and was struggling to get in because there is no button for her to open the door. But they have a table for a wheelchair and a parking spot on the same side for handicap, but no button on the door. The windows were full of finger prints and looked like they have not been cleaned in a long time. I have reported this visit to Wendy's head office so hopefully someone does something about this. I will revisit in...
