Worse service and coffee I have ever received at an A&W!!! Don't get me wrong; the A&W where I usually get my coffee makes the best takeout coffee I have ever had😋 However; this place ... I had to repeat myself several times to tell them what I wanted in my friend's tea; and they still didn't make it correct! I figured they would get my coffee double double correct . . . No sugar in it!! I had time to go back in the afternoon to get a replacement coffee. I also ordered another tea for my friend. I was told that they didn't have tea. After arguing with the girl over the speaker, I told her I would see her at the window. It turns out they do have tea, which I already knew, of course; apparently, they do not serve tea after noon. She could have just said that instead of frustrating me by telling me - well, you get the idea! Plus, how ridiculous is that?! Any other A&W I have been to serves tea all day!! Then we get to the coffee. I end up getting "handled" by an employee with more experience than the 1st. As we disagreed over policies and practices. I swear, if he had said "ma'am" 1 more time!😡 I get my replacement coffee and drive away. After I'm many km's away and take a few sips, I realize how horrible it tastes!😝 I get my friend to stir it, figuring that they didn't do that. It looked really strong! Firstly, it was not double double, and secondly, it must have been in the pot since the morning! I stopped at another coffee shop and went in to grab a couple of packages of sugar to stir in. Still didn't help. Horrible,...

They failed me.

I came in Friday at supper, and left 15 minutes later disappointed, and mildly disgusted. When I arrived, I used the bathroom, it was clean and no troubles. Out in the dining room, it was empty of customers. Of the 15 or so tables, one employee was eating-everyone deserves a break - and 6 tables were dirty with crumbs, rings of old pop, and food containers.

I ordered an Uncle burger, chicken strips and a pop, 22 dollars. After watching a few drive-thru customers get served, I asked for an update on my food. Three employees seem confused, and it seems no one put my chicken strips down into the fryer. I was told that they were out of chicken strips for the day -5:30pm on a Friday? Either the staff were covering a mistake, or management of kitchen supplies were that bad. I got a refund on the strips. So, I asked about my burger. Confused employee looked through three bags that had been sitting out, and handed me one. None were labeled, nor organized. It was not my burger - Uncle burgers come with cheddar and bacon. I realized this as I got down the road. I should not have trusted them; I should have checked.

The drink was cold and wet – partial win.

Management needs to step up training, supplies, and organization. If they are understaffed, then pay more in wages to recruit more staff. After positive changes are made, then customer and profits...

I visited on Free Root Beer Day. I was thrilled to receive their delicious ice-cold root beer for free, which happens once a year. I also purchased a Whistle Dog & fries . The Whistle Dog was on promo, available for a limited time. I don't think that it's on the regular menu.

It was a nostalgia purchase, something I enjoyed at A & W as a child. The WD was delicious , prepared just as I remembered it but had I not wanted to reminisce, I wouldn't have bought. It cost almost $8. That is too expensive for a hotdog. Adding the fries & taxes, I spent around $12 for two items.

Fast food used to be inexpensive. Not anymore. I am a retiree on a fixed income. Can I afford fast food meals? Not as often as in the past. They are quickly becoming on par with non fast-food restaurants pricewise.

That said, this A&W had wonderful staff working when I visited. The employee at the counter was friendly, courteous & helpful. He suggested that I sit down as my food was being prepared. When ready, he carried it over to me. He was understanding of my needs as a senior, disabled person. He offered his assistance freely, which doesn't always occur. Usually I need to ask for help.
