We were really excited to hear of the new ownership at Ernies, and opted to get 2 burgers for takeout. I was really surprised to see that it was just shy of $50 for 2 burger/fry combos but can appreciate that the cheese skirt and bacon would result in a bit of a higher than average price. We ate the food within 5 minutes of picking up and were torn on the quality. The standout being the wilted brown lettuce. The burgers seemed thrown together and topping were everywhere. Upon reconstructing we found the lettuce was bad so set it aside. The tomatos were also mealy. The fries seemed overcooked and underseasoned and were a little soggier than expected considering the short time between picking up and eating. I think naturally the first impression with the lettuce made the smaller things stand out. However, the burger itself was very good and you can taste the quality of meat and cheese. Unfortunately I'm unsure if it's worth the gamble on produce and presentation quality considering the cost, but I'm sure it's to be expected during transition to new operations so maybe trying again down the line would be a good idea!

Leaving an honest review. Food is good but this is not about the food. This is the second time we have gone for a simple drink at 930 pm (being local) and they have told us (once we go to sit, because the lights are on, the open sign on, doors open and customers clearly inside) that they are closed. Closed at 930 on a Thursday?! Meanwhile there is a full table of people (6 or more) drinking and eating. Side note-Google also says open until 10. Knowing the service industry, you don’t send paying, decent, respectful customers out the door because the kids in their early 20s likely want to go home early. Super disappointed. Hespeler has a good vibe and this was plain rude. No hospitality given at all.

We came to check out the hype here at Ernie's and it did not disappoint. Melinda was our server and we also got to try her dessert which was absolutely phenomenal, we all tried it and it's a 10 out of 10. Reese's peanut butter cheesecake!!! Between us we ordered a Smashburger pulled pork sandwich the Ernie's Burger the mac and cheese and the kids chicken tenders, everybody is raving about the food and how full they are. Everything was hot, fresh had a great taste and only 20 minutes wait from order to the table. This is definitely somewhere we'll come back again and again!
