Highly recommend the Monday Night Ernie’s burger special, the chicken tenders are fabulous and coconut cream pie is delicious! Another Update: AMAZING burger during their Monday special. Wonderful service from Demi! Excellent deal. UPDATE: Enjoyed an outstanding brunch here! SO much delicious food, great choices, amazing desserts. Potato soup delicious! Excellent eggs Benedict. Cinnamon scones and donuts- yum! One of the best Caesars I’ve had (watch the spicy green bean) and fresh mimosas…highly recommend Ernie’s for Sunday Brunch. Very reasonable. Suggest you follow Ernie’s on Facebook to keep up with their daily specials. When we learned this Monday was their burger special, we were looking forward to trying their Ernie’s cheeseburger with the melted cheese ring. It didn’t disappoint! Great that it came with a choice of fries, salad or daily soup as a side. Burger was great. Fries would have been better had they been extra crispy. Side salad was very good. A surprise birthday treat was provided to our friend we were celebrating- it was a delicious butter tart. Their other desserts looked amazing. Understand their brunch is very good too, but check if reservations are required. Their balcony seating overlooks the river and will be lovely in the warm weather.

Have you ever wanted to try this place? I waited three months. I cannot tell you how worth the wait was. From the very beginning to the very end I have to say was a FANTASTIC experience. The decor was stunning I loved it. The people working there always had a smile on greeted us with such happiness and perfect smiles. It was Sunday the worst snowstorm of family day long weekend 2025 10am. If I could only remember our servers name (look at my name you’ll know who it was) I can’t tell you enough good things about this individual they gave us the best service we have experienced in a super long time and we go out a lot. They all joined together and cleaned tables like champs and team players which I throughly enjoyed watching whom ever built this team is good. Everyone worked so hard here that morning and made it into work and still had smiles. The food was hot so good and very plentiful. I will definitely be returning in the up coming months especially in the summer those garage doors that open are very intriguing since I love the outdoors. Thank you for everything you guys did on Sunday it was a great time but definitely not our last. Keep on going the ratings will go up. You DID AN AMAZING JOB SUNDAY!!!!

On 08/09/2025 - When we visited Ernie's, we were told that since no one had ever beaten the burger challenge, the portion of fries had been reduced. Even with the reduction, the challenge was far from easy. Now that someone has finally managed to complete it, the restaurant immediately reverted the portion back to its original size. To me, this feels like nothing more than a way for the restaurant to profit. A challenge shouldn't be changed right after the first person succeeds. Because of this, we've decided we won't be choosing Ernies for lunch/dinner moving forward. They even posted on instagram stating he was the “furthest contestant” which doesn't reflect the reality of what happened, and I truly feel for the person who was promised a shirt and the honour of being the first on the Wall of Fame by the staff. It's very disappointing for this restaurant to go back on their word and even remove their instagram post when they know they were in the wrong. Recognition should be given when it's earned, and unfortunately, this situation did the opposite. He deserves to be recognized as the first to beat the challenge and should be honoured with that title.

Nestled in Hespeler Village, Ernie's Roadhouse promises a Sunday brunch experience that beckons families and food enthusiasts alike.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the warmth of the decor. It was like stepping into a grandmother's kitchen, where white paneling lines the walls and wrought iron chairs complement sturdy wood tables. The ambiance is homey and inviting.

The buffet is moderately priced at $28.99 for adults, $19.99 for seniors, and $12.99 for kids aged four to twelve, with those three and under eating for free. Advertisements had whetted our appetites with mentions of scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes, hashbrowns, French toast, and more. Mimosas and Caesars are available for those seeking a boozy brunch experience.

Our hostess led us to a brightly lit room at the back of the restaurant with large windows. Here, wooden tables and chairs, mismatched in a way that evoked a bygone era, greeted us. One member of our party nostalgically remarked that it felt like sitting at his childhood dinner table—a sentiment that resonated with all of us.

I wasn't sure I could eat enough to justify a $28.99 meal, so I asked for a menu to explore other options. Several others in our party, not interested in breakfast, did the same.

To my surprise, there were no à la carte breakfast items available, so I reluctantly opted for the breakfast buffet. Two other adults chose the buffet, two adults chose burgers, and two children opted for pizza.

Although we arrived later in the morning, I was still surprised by the sparse buffet offerings. There was a small smattering of scrambled eggs, a couple of eggs benedict, and broken pieces of overcooked bacon—leftovers from what was served earlier. However, there were plenty of hashbrowns, pancakes, waffles, French toast, and cabbage rolls. Yogurt with berries, individual no-bake cherry cheesecakes, and a few pastries rounded out the buffet.

I chose an eggs benedict, bacon 'crumble,' a piece of French toast, yogurt with berries, and some fruit. The other two adults who opted for the buffet had scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, and assorted items. One of our party members, who is gluten-free, was kindly provided with gluten-free toast by our attentive waitress.

Despite the anticipation, my breakfast fell short of expectations. The eggs benedict were hard poached, the bacon was overcooked and crumbly, and the French toast lacked distinction. Surprisingly, one adult praised the cabbage roll as one of the best she’d ever had but my companions who chose the buffet were equally disappointed with the overall food quality.

On the other hand, the two adults who ordered the Famous Ernie's Burger and fries ($23.75) were very satisfied. The crispy cheese ring was a hit with everyone at the table, the patties were well-cooked, the cheese was delightfully crunchy and salty, and the fries were perfectly golden and crispy.

The children's pizzas ($9.75) were cheesy and saucy, leaving both kids quite happy with their choice.

The entire staff was cheerful and genuinely happy to see their customers, interacting with many guests as if they were regulars, which speaks to how often people return for breakfast on a Sunday morning.

We will likely return another time to give Ernie's Roadhouse another try, primarily because of the warm, welcoming, and attentive staff. Although we arrived later in the morning, which may have affected the buffet offerings, I was disappointed that there were no other breakfast items available on the menu; this would have made a significant difference.

Perhaps our experience is, in large part, due to growing pains. Ernie's Roadhouse recently came under new management. Mike Napier and Joel Cook, who previously owned The Old Marina in Puslinch before it was ravaged by fire in the summer of 2022, have taken the helm. The Old Marina was a much-loved establishment, and given time, I suspect Ernie's Roadhouse will also showcase the talent that Mike and Joel...

We were looking forward to finally going here for the first time, and left disappointed. Went at 11:30am for Sunday brunch (I even called ahead to confirm lunch options prior to booking reservation, hubby likes breakfast foods and I like lunch). The line went to almost the back of the restaurant when we arrived so we waited a few minutes. Get to the brunch table after standing for 10 minutes, no plates. Wait for plates along with everyone else, and we all commented that most trays of food were empty. Grabbed what we could in hopes of more food coming out shortly after. Got back in line again and waited. They did not replenish most food items, it is only noon at this point! (Felt like I was at a cuban resort and grab what you can). Cabbage rolls - not replaced, fish - not replaced, chicken wings and mac casserole not replaced (I asked the server and was astonished when she said that was it for the lunch service for those items). This was not worth $34 per person. I never even had any lunch items other than a dried rice casserole. And the breakfast food that was left had been sitting as it was clear people were there for lunch foods. Scrambled eggs were dried, eggs benedict was cold and on untoasted english muffins?? More thought needs to go into planning for busy service times to ensure the items you advertise on your website are even offered, or limit the number of people at each seating time. I am not someone to complain, but my husband said we will never go back, and neither of us got to enjoy the items we were looking forward to. We also spoke with others that said it was an extremely disappointing brunch experience. Hopefully this was an...

I came to Ernie’s on Wednesday with two of my friends after one recommended the place, and when we first came inside it felt welcoming and had a vintage look to it, however that’s where the good ends. We ordered 2 chicken and bacon meals and one fried fish. The fried fish seemed to have been fine if not a little over fried, however the chicken for both of the meals were overcooked and the bacon was shredded into little bullets that were impossible to bite down on due to how hard they were. My friend’s meal came with a waffle as the sandwich topper which she pointed out felt a little cold and upon inspection found out that it was entirely frozen, which is awful for something that is being used as a bun for a chicken sandwich. When she mentioned the complaints and the food was taken away, we assumed that she would get it back with the issues fixed, however when the food returned the waffle was still frozen and the chicken was still overcooked and chewy. Very disappointing, especially since the one friend recommended the place, to which he has now changed his mind. The cooks clearly don’t care about their food and couldn’t even take out seeds from the lemons that they placed with the food. Overall, if you want better food for a-lot less money, buy Walmart food, the quality will be very...
