Ordered food here over a year ago and promised myself NEVER AGAIN. To my surprise I was too tired and weak to cook last week and decided after hearing from 2 other people that they must have changed cooks over the past year. So I gave it a try was surprised that my jerk pork was sliced nicely and had sufficient heat to it and not fatty. I tried it again this week and had the curry goat it was not fatty and had that Caribbean flair to it , just wished they had peppa sauce that customers could add to meal if need be and music to be played louder to boost clients in store, just a suggestion Pattie’s should be brought in from TO from Tinnels or Kingston 12 patty shop at Dufferin/Eglington, then the price of $3.50 a patty would be justified.Gentleman is very pleasant and his attendant was helpful.I had red pea soup yesturday and found it to be well lacking thereof. Especially for the price it should be hearty with lots of provisions, salt meat and so forth. I would not order soup again. When o asked for fried fish the cashier responded not today and tomorrow they should have. So make a sign to say...
Read moreI had there food earlier today. I ordered daily special rice and peas, oxtail gravy and fried chicken, a curry goat meal and 1/2 pound of jerk. Unfortunately I wasn’t happy with the food whatsoever the fried chicken was dark and not tasteful at all full of oil. Made me very sick after eating it and the rest of the order was thrown out because of the taste and flavour. Not happy with the money spent today and certainly not happy with the food at all. I am sorry to have to leave a review like this. Please change your oils when frying meat, if you’re going to re use the oil at least strain it and add garlic peg, use less browning on the jerk chicken. Browning has a bitter taste so add brown sugar and less browning and blend seasoning, for your rice of peas season it and add scallion, pimento seed and garlic with enough coconut milk...
Read moreI stopped by Soul Island Kitchen while working in the area after reading some great reviews. I was in the mood for a simple patty on a bun — something that’s usually flavorful and comes with at least a bit of sauce or coleslaw.
I paid $6.50 for it and even added a 15% tip, expecting a solid bite. Instead, I was handed a patty and a bun separately — not even assembled. I had to ask them to split the bun and put the patty in.No sauce, no condiments, nothing to bring it together. Just dry and plain.
The customer service didn’t help either — no warmth, no real effort to make the experience feel welcoming. Honestly, for the price, it felt like poor value all around.
I was hoping for better, especially based on the reviews, but I left disappointed. Not...
