Biryaniwalla Cambridge — Restaurant in Cambridge

I have recently moved to Cambridge from Milton and this was my second visit to the store. I’ve now had awful experience both times. The first time I visited, I was shocked by the prices but given that there’s not a lot of competition around, I thought I’d give them a chance. They quoted me “ 1 hour “ wait time...so I figured maybe they’re too busy, and decided to do some errands and return back. I went there an hour and 10 mins later to pick up the food and it still wasn’t ready. I didn’t want to be harsh as I like to support local restaurants especially in these tough times, so I let it go. My second visit was yesterday..I placed my order on the phone this time, and was quoted half an hour. I was quite satisfied as this was an improvement from the last time. However, upon reaching there I was advised that one of the items on the order was not available.. they waited until I got there to pick up my food to tell me this, when I’d asked the girl on the phone if she wanted my ph # and she declined. Totally avoidable. On top of this, she offered me an alternative, so I asked if it was something that was ready right away as I had guests waiting and she answered yes and asked me to pay. From the time I got there until I got my order I’d spent another half hour waiting for food that was apparently ready and good to be packed.. I’m very disappointed at the level of customer service as the least they can do after messing up is not lie to the customers in their face. Restaurants are hard work, thinking up the idea, hiring employees, and making sure it is a wonderful experience for the customers.

I don’t know who owns Biryaniwalla, but I must say that my family’s experience here was simply terrible.

First of all, our food was delivered one hour late, and since it was, I expected warm, tasty food, but to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The naans were cold, bitter, and so hard that it hurts to eat them, the side dishes were also served cold, and had a disgusting taste. I, personally, love Manchuria, and I was hoping for a delicious appetizer at least. The Manchuria was cold, and extremely spicy, even though we specifically ordered “mild”.

Overall, an abhorrent experience, and ruined my whole appetite. I don’t recommend this place 100%, unless food served cold, and gross, and horrible service is the way you like a restaurant experience. Honestly, I strongly wish I could give 0 stars to Biryaniwalla.

Today only they opened in KWC area. I tried Hyderabad chicken briyani and mutton briyani.

Overall good. But not the best. In KWC. But for now only 4 stars. Find why below.

PROS : Provides bucket briyani ( 3 people ) and tray briyani ( 5 people ) option on all variety. Dum briyani is tasty. Mutton briyani pieces are so soft. Onion raita - no one on this locality provides this with briyani. This is onion with curd. Not the green one. Free 2L sprite or coke with bucket or tray. A serious contender for aunty kitchen and tandoori express. Friendly service. ( but at the start all looks fine. So time will tell if they remain this friendly ) Good quantity. Value for money. Halal mentioned.

CONS: Phone connection is not working. So have to go in person and order and wait in car Too inside of Cambridge. The drive was too long from Waterloo downtown. Mask is kind of not mandated and I saw few other customers without mask. But staff stay with masks clearly.

Verdict : I still feel tandoori express briyani is slightly better in taste than briyaniwalla. But briyaniwalla is clearly better than aunty kitchen in both quality and quantity. So I am placing briyani walls on second rank for briyani in KWC area pushing aunty kitchen...
