Crabby Bob's Seafood is the kind of seafood spot that is so rare but incredibly exciting to find. It's not a restaurant but a fresh seafood store that serves some food. We ordered the Loaded Seafood Chowder 🥔, Steamed Shellfish Box 🦪 and on advice from another customer a Lobster Roll 🦞. Unfortunately there was no more Seafood Chowder and we got the last Lobster Roll. I thought the bread of the Lobster Roll did not taste that fresh and the lobster was good but I have had better Lobster Rolls. However the Steamed Shellfish Box was absolutely one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had 🥇. I don't recall any swimming scallops but the clams and mussels were so fresh and many of them were the hugest I have ever seen.
As for service, there is a sign that says "If you don't like our service lower your standards" or something to that effect. The two people working there try to be helpful but there are so many people waiting for their orders that it's understandable that you cannot expect immediate service.
As for ambience, we sat on the pier around a small outdoor table. Not fine dining but it was totally worth it. I would go to Crabby Bob's Seafood every time I am in...
Read moreLots of happy reviews so I checked it out myself. The good: the staff person was friendly and helpful. The store had the cutest little bottles of tobasco I've ever seen. The take-out package had everything you would need to enjoy the meal on the run ie: cutlery, napkins etc.
The bad: this place is strictly take-out and I don't recall anything on the website indicating this. I was told in good weather there are tables outside. The worst part was the food. The meal came with 5 mussels; I've had raw oysters before and would never do again, and when I got to eating this meal I would say the mussels were warm, not cooked. I nearly gagged at how slimy they were. Had to throw the last 3 out to the seagulls. The rest was ok and the butter sauce was oily but tasty. The rice was ok. Topping on it was almost too spicy though.
The place was as simple and run down as maybe any dockside seafood store would be. I hope their cafe to be opened soon is more welcoming. Also there was no signage in the parking lot directing customers to the door.
I'm from out of province but even if I was a local I would not return for...
Read moreI waited over two hours for a single seafood boil. During that time, more than 20 people who ordered after me were served ahead of me. To make matters worse, the sun was blazing down, and the staff didn't bother to mention there were umbrellas available for my daughter and i. After waiting an hour, I inquired about the order. I asked again after another hour passed. Following my second inquiry, a young employee went inside and began mimicking me, falsely telling other employees that I was asking every time she went to serve someone and just being disrespectful. Frustrated after two hours, I went inside to complain. Another employee apologized, stating they had made a mistake, and offered a refund without providing the food or any real compensation for the inconvenience. Furthermore, she did not address the rude behaviour of the young employee who was mocking me and giving my daughter dirty looks. I would not recommend this place to anyone or ever...
