I don't normally give reviews to Restaurants, as I always expect some of the finest food to be served while there however, I must say something about the delicious, exquisite meal that my Wife and I were lucky enough to be served last evening.
My Wife and I went for a drive from Edmonton back to Camrose to enjoy the Fall colors and thought we would try out this new Bistro and we were definitely not disappointed!! The Location, Atmosphere, Service, and especially the meals were simply outstanding!
My Wife ordered the Ahi Tuna as she had never tasted Fresh Tuna before and she was extremely pleased with her meal. It came served upon a bed of Shitake Mushroom sauce with Couscous Pearl Risotto which was lip-smacking good!
I ordered the AAA Flat Iron with Scallops along with the same bed of Risotto. I can readily say that this is probably the best-tasting cut of meat that I have ever tasted! Done to a perfect medium rare. The Scallops were done to perfection. Their crispy outer sides and sweet, creamy centers were Beautiful!
This young Chef has produced probably the best meal that I have had the pleasure of indulging in for years!! Yes, I have traveled quite a lot, living 5 years in Europe, and over a year in the Middle East having some of the best Chefs' meals while there, and I can readily say that the old saying "It's all about the Flavor" is so true.
If this young Chef continues producing meals such as we enjoyed last evening, I just know that the culinary skills in Canada will be second to none going forward.
I cannot leave without saying how good the front service was as well. This young Lady was there for us all the time but not "hovering" over us. She was nothing but professional, pleasant, and well-versed on the Menu. Her pleasant attitude, ready smile, and demeanor were a perfect positive addition to the Borough Market Bistro!
Again, Well...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for our 20th anniversary. (June 29) I wanted it to be special so I planned a day in Camrose. From the moment we entered we felt like we were being welcomed into our own home. A nice sense of familiarity and comfort. We were given the option of sitting inside or out on either patio. Lots of outdoor space. It was hot out so we opted to eat inside. Our server was exceptional. I want to say her name was Karen. Sorry it’s been a couple of weeks. Anyways she was great and walked us through the menu. We started with a couple flavored Sangria’s. Very juicy and refreshing. We shared a tzatziki dish. Once again nicely presented and creamy but a bit spicy for her. I enjoyed the heat. For our mains I ordered I ordered the Beef Ribeye. Sooo good! Very nicely presented and ribeye was cooked perfectly. My mouth is watering just thinking how flavorful the beef was in every chew. I savored it. The sides were nicely prepared as well (peaches, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, and a green sauce which I think was parsley based. Delicious. The beef was the star here. Blue cheese crumbles only served to elevate the beef. Very impressive. She had the pasta Bucatini Cacio E Pepe So creamy and rich with a hint of smoke from the bacon. The texture of the pasta was perfect. Imagine spaghetti but with a thicker bite. Very nice. A simple dish elevated by this chef’s creativity. I could eat this every day and be happy. For dessert we had the Pb&j Crème Brûlée. She loved it! I wasn’t a fan. That’s okay. More for her. We also had the Chocolate Gateau. This was more up my alley. Rich and chocolatey cake with a ganache filling. The butter pecan ice cream was the perfect finish to this elevated dessert. Just what I needed. Thank you for making our 20th a memorable experience. We enjoyed visiting your home and meeting...
Read moreWhen my boyfriend and I walked in we were so excited because it is such a cute setup. As someone who’s studied in culinary school I’m always excited to find hidden gems on my way through towns.
We ordered the feta dip to start which was amazing. The tomatoes were sweet and delicious and the feta was whipped beautifully.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same about their so called “cacio e Pepe” and the pepperoni prosciutto pizza.
When the pasta came I was shocked to see that it in fact was not at all cacio e Pepe, it was soba noodles drowning in Alfredo sauce. And when I say drowning I mean there was a soup in my dish about an inch high. For your reference, cacio e Pepe is made of butter (or olive oil depending on who asks for it), pepper, and Parmesan. This was swimming in cream sauce. It was honestly pretty gross and i didn’t finish.
The pizza, aesthetically looked okay but the amount of grease that came off it was disgusting. It left my boyfriend sick for the rest of the night and I had two bites before putting it down because I knew I’d end up with a stomach ache. For the outrageous prices, I expect much better food. You’d find cheaper prices at a high end restaurant in one of the cities near by like Edmonton for way less. I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re going...
