Yami Sushi — Restaurant in Central Saanich

We decided to get sushi a couple nights ago and we were told it would take an hour and a half… upon arriving 6 minutes early we were treated rudely and told to come back in 6 minutes and the food wasn’t ready yet. When we came back, they were microwaving our chicken for the teriyaki chicken roll we ordered…… When we actually got our meal, the portions were extremely small for more than $50. I’ve ordered more sushi than that at other places and only ended up paying around $30 for probably double the amount of sushi. We just wanted to support a local small business but we absolutely will not be back. Not worth the money, being treated badly, and getting overpriced...

I understand covid and all, but I thought it was rather rude to ask me to wait outside for my order when there is literally no one else in there, I'm standing as far away as possible and it was abruptly asked as I stood there quietly waiting "wait outside please" she yelled. I looked around at the empty place. "....what?" "Wait outside" "Really?!" In disbelief. I had even tipped before I got my order. Want my tip back. Just rude service all around. I don't even care if it's amazing sushi, I'll go where they treat their customers like...

Best sushi I've had in Victoria, perfectly crafted every time. I keep meaning to take a photo of my orders but find myself eating it before remembering to.

They are a small operation, just the couple running the place to my knowledge. That means during peak times there is often a bit of a wait, but it is always worth it.
