So based on other reviews we were excited to try this restaurant. Upon arrival at 6:30pm we were greeted and sat fairly quickly, (as the dinner rush was just emptying) and had menus placed on the table. We ordered drinks, from the menu, and waited almost 15 minutes to find out they were out of one of the drinks we ordered. So another was ordered. We then ordered our food, the feta honey, really yummy, was brought out first (before our drinks ), about five minutes later our drinks finally arrived, at which point we had to ask for a water refill on a hot sunny day. Our actual food (a burger, pulled pork style sandwhich and a poutine) arrived at 720 (yup almost an hour for such a simple order) for which we recieved a half appology for the delay but 0 offer of anything else. The food to say the least was about on par with amusement park fair. Which seemed odd given all the reviews, the burger was just slightly bigger than a slider, the poutine was cold and the curds not melted at all and the volume was less than a McDonald’s small fry. The pork sandwhich had barely any pork on it (we halved it and one half had 0 pork as a result of cutting maybe!??) The final surprise was when we called for our bill (7:35) we were told only our server could bring it to us, so we had to again wait. See attached reciept for the time!!
120$!!! For what amounted two two sliders and a small McDonald’s poutine.. oh and two adequate drinks.
Overall the atmosphere is ok, and has a lot going for it but the restaurant (any restaurant ) charging by the burger then having to add fries/poitine/side had best recognize the proper value of the food they are serving and deliver it with quality and in a timely fashion .. I would understand (maybe) if the place had been swamped but there were over 11 empty tables in a 40 table restaurant.
No excuses, don’t over pay we left hungry and unsatisfied and no indication the restaurant cared. We...
Read moreThe 3 stars are for the owner and the second server because it didn't start off well unfortunately. It would have been a 1 otherwise, based on the initial service we got.
We arrived, with a reservation and were largely ignored by the server for a while and we had to flag her down after she walked past and looked right at us multiple times. The response was that she didn't think more people were being seated there and only then were we able to order drinks. After a while we flagged down another server as we hadn't got any and we were watching through the window as the original server was at the bar hanging out with the bartender. The second server went in, as we watched and told her, and onky then did our drinks get made. When she came out, she said it was a problem with their system, that it didn't register the order. We were not the only table this hapoened to as another table seated at the same time ended uo getting up and physically going up to the bar to get service. We ended up asking the second server if they could take over our table as we had been there for well over an hour at that point and had just ordered dinner. It was ridiculous as it wasn't even busy, there were plenty of empty tables and 3 servers working. Being that 3 of our party are servers themselves, they were a little surprised at the treatment we got from the start from the original server. It felt like we were almost a nuisance for having been seated outside. We had a reservation so its not like the 4 of us showed up out of the blue. By the time we got everything, the event we had traveled so far for was over, and we have been there close to 2.5 hours at that point.
The owner was great, very accommodating and our server, a male with glasses was amazing foe the rest of the evening and did everything he could to turn the situation around for us. The 3 stars...
Read moreTable of 4 visiting from out of town. Nice looking spot. Had high hopes for this place. However, to start they had a "please wait to be seated" sign and no host. Just left us standing in the rain with no direction for about 10 minutes.
The menu sounds great, the food looks good. However execution is poor and lacks the flavor profile for the tourist type prices.
Drinks- warm water was served to the table, The large French press coffee was extremely weak, a mild tan colored water. The steep time on a French press is crucial for its sucess.(server had no idea when it was poured)
Apps- chips and salsa- salsa has flavor but lacked the salt to bring the tomatoes to life.
Whipped feta with honey- chunky not smooth, too much acid not well balanced, the bread was mostly 3mm thick crust off the bottom of a Baguette. And only enough bread for maybe 25% of the dip provided.
Entrees - burger and poutine, decent flavor, fries undercook, raw potato inside.
1/2 rack with fries- decent ribs. Undercookedfries.
Chicken sandwich- breaded chicken breast. However $24 no side puts it at the same price point as the $30 ribs with fries.
Seared tuna bowl- nice size tuna, seared well, missing mango (server did mention it) The dish lacked depth and flavor, the rice was ice cold and a jelly mush.
Service- (i believe he had said his name was matt) server seemed new, unaware of the menu/protocols and just general mannerisms/etiquette Apps were not checked on, mains were checked on when party was 70% finished. 20 minutes for drinks, (coffee) and 2 Fountain drinks. And he definitely showed annoyance with a 5% tip. (I understand your annoyance, however you need to understand the mark was missed on 80% of this visit, sorry)
Not a place i would be keen to return to or recommend based on this experience. Left with an...
