Not too munch(!) positive on this visit!
Ambiance (3 out of 5): -Nice location although the building is a bit of a mess, seems to be a patchwork of many failed businesses before them; -Patio is great, nice wooden roof and structure; -Seating is brutal, your choices include either a small, low, hard metal chair, or a hard wooden bench, both of which had all 4 of us with sore butts and backs by the end; -Massive kitchen hood fan sticking into patio area should be covered, doesn't look very appealing;
Staff(2 out of 5): -Nice welcome, polite overall; -Men staff look like the just got back from the gym, definitely not pleasant. I understand new trends limit the strict uniform rules, but let's keep a certain standard please; -Service somewhat slow despite small server sections; didn't see our server for approx 15 mins at one point;
Food(2 out of 5): -Nachos - overcooked, bland, fake chicken bits, cheap salsa, small quantities - very average overall. And average is not what will keep you on the map; -Caesar salad - claimed to be their "Famous" dressing; possible the worst Caesar dressing I've had; too much mayo, and they added some sweetness to the dressing, who does that? Only 1 person out of 4 liked the salad; -Beef Tartare was well-seasoned, I recommend this; although the croutons were too hard, almost snapped my teeth on them; the house salad it comes with is loaded with a commercial mayo-based dressing that comes for a 5-gallon plastic jug - how hard is it to make a nice, summery salad dressing? -Fries were absolute garbage - the exact same cut and style (and probably same distributor) as Chelsea Pub, way too cooked. Again, how hard is it to make good fries? None of us finished our fries. -Club Sandwich is non-traditional, up to you to decide if that's your thing, overall was agreed to be average; note that nothing is included with the meals, this menu is based almost entirely on "add-ons" and before you know it your Club is costing you 20$.
Overall(2 out of 5): -Our entire group agreed the food was the exact same as Chelsea Pub, I don't see why they would bother opening up the same type of restaurant 20ft away from the busiest place in town (maybe just to steal some of the same clientèle, not a bad idea considering Chelsea Pub is nuts busy). -Nobody in our group said they would go back unless they decide to up their game. We heard this place was backed by some experienced restauranteurs... hopefully they can pull it together munch munch...
Read moreCan’t even comment on the food we never made it in. Showed up at 20:20 for dinner on a friday night. First look from the hostess as she approached implied « Why are these people arriving this late for dinner ». We are told the wait time is 45-60 minutes without a reservation. We say we will wait. We are told the kitchen closes at 21:00. So why offer for us to wait in the first place? We notice many open tables out and inside. These are apparently « reserved ». Seems odd many tables are reserved for patrons who have yet to arrive between 20:20 and 21:00 when the kitchen closes ? A couple arrives after us. We chitchat with them. They don’t have a reservation. They are shown to a table immediately. We ask how they got in? The hostess says that they had a reservation. Yet another lie.She quickly corrects and says that they are family friends. The slippery slope of questionable excuses continues. We are subsequently told that the chef is very upset and won’t serve anyone else. Apparently their food stock did not come in for the day. Again odd given that they were able to run a full service up to 8:30 PM and suddenly they are completely out of food for us. They could only serve us green salads at this point. We are four intelligent people. We all felt like we were not valued customers. All permutations of this story sounded very questionable to us. The point of this review is not to trash this restaurant. In fact Im sure one part of their story is true. But there’s no doubt we were lied to. We live in the region and could be returning customers. We are out on a Friday night to support the struggling restaurant industry. Very ...
Read moreTo save you time…would I go back or suggest it to friends or family…I don’t think so. Have been waiting for months to go since they were still building because the local looked, so finally went. The local: Nice wood construction, ambience relaxed, no noise at all from surrounding Chelsea is like a oasis, good music, there’s indoor seating and a lovely patio in the back. They have a parking lot. So local…check. Service: There were only three clients, us included, one server who was welcoming, it took like 25 minutes to be served. I had a drink and was never asked if wanted more. So I’d say was not bad service but room for improvement. Food: Unremarkable. If you are going expecting delicious food…go somewhere else, was just normal, noting special, and believe me, I am not picky. I had the smallest steak I have even been served in my life, was done as required but was bland even after adding the gravy. The tuna salad was also small, like 5 pieces of tuna, vinaigrette was good. I have had better food in the area for less or the same like the Hibou at Wakefield or Biscoti and Cea at Chelsea. I might go back for a beer and maybe try the burger for a second try but my expectations will be low. I wish things get better, the place is lovely but food and...
