My family stopped for our first Frankie’s experience returning from a long camping trip around 6:45 pm. We were hungry and a bit tired and looking forward to a relaxing dinner and pleasant chit chat with the server like we would normally receive at an other restaurants of this price range.
I dropped my wife and son at the door, and they immediately felt “eyed up and down” because we weren’t dressed as spiffy as other customers. I had a struggle to find parking so I only noticed some customers in the parking lot looking oddly at my car which was loaded up and dusty. Parking was not adequate so I parking at a nearby business.
When I finally got to the front door it was bustling and busy. The front attendants did not greet me, and I found my family on my own.
The waitress for our table was a young lady of very few words. She was stiffly polite, but cool and distant and only said the minimum possible, as though she could barely stand our presence. She left us quickly each time she came. She showed no interest in us, where we were from, or what we had done that day.
We ordered our food and noticed other customers in the restaurant receiving excellent service from their servers, who chatted with them and laughed and attended to them like family.
Our server was more attracted to a young man sitting across from us who arrived after us. She stood with her back to us during the entire meal allowing our glasses to empty without offering a refill, and she did not discuss or offer pepper or grated cheese for the salad. She was animated and chatty with him, talking on and on. When the meal was almost done she asked if we were in a hurry to leave, almost like trying to get rid of us. It was embarrassing and rude. We eat out fairly often and have never been treated “less than others” before by a server.
The meal itself was excellent and the decor was nice. A bit loud for my liking but that’s ok.
My wife and son were unimpressed with their order of a Cobb salad. The serving size was minimal and the iceberg lettuce was only quartered, leaving them to cut the salad bit by bit for themselves. (Deconstructed serving style)The other topping were minimal having only half an egg and very few garnishments.
My Caesar salad was good.
We all agreed that the chicken flavour was superb though my son’s chicken was overcooked.
I struggled with the tip and with this rating. It seems unfair to give a lean tip and a poor rating since the food was good and I could see other customers getting good service.
In the end I gave a nice tip to recognize the cooking and other servers, but this rating will reflect the actual disappointment with the way we were treated—seeming just because we weren’t in our best clothes/makeup/hair. Maybe she assumed we couldn’t afford a tip so brushed us off?
I will probably never return in my nice clothes because of the treatment we got.
NOTE: I noticed the name “Anna” on the top of...

Read moreThe staff is exceptional, I just wish the food was the same.
Food was subpar. You think an Italian restaurant would really make there pasta dishes exceptional but they were not far from that.
The half price appetizers were better than the full priced menu.
Arancini It was okay, not my favourite.
Mussels They were good
Spinach & artichoke dip Was good
Gnocco Fritto (half price appy) Was excellent!
Mushroom ravioli (half price appy) Was amazing, it did taste fresh, and lots of sauce.
Nonna Maria’s Lasagna extremely overpopulated with meat and the tomato sauce was very acidic.
Alfredo Tagiatelle & chicken sauce was good, but not much of it, tagiatelle tasted old and not fresh. And the chicken breast, I am extremely shocked that it was well over done to a tire like texture and hard to chew. It’s not hard to cook chicken breast.
Pesto chicken Gnocchi Pesto sauce was good, but the chicken breast was the same extremely overcooked and hard to chew.
Had a few drinks, they were good except for one that was not mixed well. Not a big deal though.
Overall, I would go back but I would definitely only order from the half price appetizers. The chefs seem to put more effort into those than the main dishes. For the prices of the main course dishes is not worth what...
