Super disappointed in my last two visits. The food is good but the service is terrible. It is obvious the girls working there are of the family business and have no understanding of customer service or english. It was a Thursday night.. not really busy. My order, (which was very clear and simple), was all screwed up, which is normally ok with me, I understand mistakes happen. But, the waitress tried to blame the mistake on me and insisted I ordered what I got. She even became rude. She tried to rectify it by bringing me a handful of noodles, in a bowl, which was frankly a joke and an insult. Another person in our party ordered Dynamite rolls and was brought California rolls, which they never rectified. In fact, when it was brought to her attention (solely so she could correct the bill), she again told him, that was what he ordered. Everyone received their meals at different times. The food was brought out by 3 different people and plunked down on the table where ever. Water and tea ran out and was never ever refilled. When the bill came my elderly mother offered to pay the bill. She did so and as she walked out the door, the asian waitress ran after her and, in loud broken english accused her of not paying the bill. My mom had to dig in her purse and pull out the receipt. By now there was a lineup in the foyer and it was extremely stressful and embarrassing for her. She proved she paid the bill and there was no apology from her. And, the worst part about it was my mother tipped!! Saddly, that experience took the cake for me and I won't be going back until I see a sign "Under New Management" . Gon Sushi, just up the road is getting all my business...
Read moreThis restaurant is temporarily closed (possibly renovating or sold) Out of all Japanese restaurants in Chilliwack this is my least favorite, and I go to all of them! The layout is good and it is right in the core of Garrison Village plaza- which is a prime location for a popular sushi place(think UFV students, locals and visitors) ! You would think that they would be much better at customer service and quality? But nope! They are (were) not.
Food can take long time to arrive, they can make you wait and ignore, the servers are not attentive and few times did not accomodate my food allergies, charging dollar extra on the bill for cup of green tea (absolutely no Asian restaurant will charge you for basic tea, its complementary)
Random servers passing by continually asking if everything ok (when its actually not) and taking your plates while you are eating(which in dining is considered rude and unprofessional)
Feels like they need to train their staff in some basic customer service skills but I don't think they care. UFV students and other average clients happily gobble up their sauce smothered sushi, and pay the bucks.
Also when I had a very valid complaint about food /service the front staff refused to call the supervisor/manager and lied to me saying he/she is not in the restaurant.
I did not buy into it and simply stayed until supervisor revealed herself. She had to apologise and issue me a discount. Pathetic approach. Will not be returning unless they change...
Read moreI tried this restaurant because a previous reviewer had called it the best ramen in Chilliwack. Sheesh, I hope not. There are a few Ramen options on the menu. I asked my server if all the ramen soups used the same broth. She said they did. I’m not sure she understood what I meant, but going by her answer, I ordered the prawn tempura ramen and the assorted spicy sashimi salad. I’ll start by saying that the ramen was the worst ramen I’ve had. It seemed to be a miso broth with noodles and a salad floating in it. I was not interested in a vegetarian ramen. That is why I asked the server about the broth before ordering. Ramen should be a rich, flavourful, borderline gelatinous broth that clings to the noodles. There wasn’t even the usual soft boiled egg. It’s only saving grace was a few prawn tempura on the side. The soup itself was thin and bland. I struggled to eat it. If you ever order anything other than the chicken ramen, I’m guessing they will serve you this lacklustre vegetarian soup. The sashimi salad on the other hand was quite good. Plenty of octopus, salmon and tuna sashimi tossed into the salad with a good spicy kick. By the end of my meal, between the soup and the salad, I felt like I had consumed a full bag of tossed salad mix😂. The ramen is really what I was there to try, so unfortunately, Maru Sushi only gets three stars...
