The Spruce Grove Pizza Hut is below average. It’s not only below average compared to other pizza places in town, it’s below average when compared to other Pizza Huts.
No matter where you go Pizza Hut has a distinct style of pizza – you’re going to love it or hate it depending on your own tastes. The dough is unique and thicker than just about anywhere else. I like it, but some people find it to be too doughy. Their pizzas also tend to be more oily. This is because of their deep-dish style of cooking is quite different than a pizza that’s cooked over an open flame. Again, if you enjoy the deep-dish style, you’re probably ok with the oil, if not then Pizza Hut just isn’t the place for you.
The reason I rank this particular Pizza Hut below the rest is due to their unskilled and inexperienced management which affects both food quality and customer service. When I walked in and ordered what I observed was pure chaos. While there were tons of staff, they were working frantically in a panic. The place was filled with angry shouts and open signs of exasperation. The manager, who is supposed to be the conductor of the orchestra, was completely stressed out and treated both customer and staff with little courtesy or consideration. The teenage boy cutting the pizzas was nervous and confused (likely a new trainee) and slow as molasses.
The angry performance of the manager made the customer experience quite negative. And the unskilled teenager cutting the pizzas led to a poorly cut pizza (I know I’m not the only one who hates it when their pizza isn’t cut all the way through) and a pizza that was burned (due to the log-jam on their conveyor-belt oven).
I’ve got to admit, sometimes I’ve got an itch that only Pizza Hut can scratch, but I think that the next time I get that itch I’ll go into the city to have a...
Read moreDisappointing experiences here multiple times. The two that stand out in recent weeks:
First time, I ordered online several hours in advance for a set pick up time. I ended up waiting outside for a full hour after my scheduled pick up time. Their phone number was out of service and there was a huge line up of people also waiting. The only reason I didn't walk away earlier, was because I had prepaid online. When I finally got inside, I was told it would be at least another 45 minutes. So I just asked for my money back. My biggest source of frustration was that no one ever came outside to update the customers on their orders. There were people there who waited longer than me. The only orders going out were Skip the Dishes.
Last week, I ordered the Triple Treat meal ahead of time and picked up with no issues. Got home to find they had given me a pepperoni instead of veggie pizza. Annoying, but I absolutely understand that mistakes happen. I tried to call the store and ask that they have the correct pizza ready for when I drive back, so that I don't have to wait another half hour while the rest of our order gets cold. The line rang and rang. No answer. I continued to try and call but never got through. I gave up. Being a vegetarian myself my family ate but I didn't.
I filled out the customer experience survey that was emailed to me after that and requested that someone get in touch with me. The only response I got, was another survey a few days later asking me to rate my experience from the supposed follow up call. There was never a follow up call.
Basically, my issue isn't that mistakes occurred. It's that the Spruce Grove location has made communication very difficult for their customers and as a result very difficult and extremely inconvenient to fix. They really don't...
Read moreOrdered online...15-20 minutes AFTER the website said it was delivered, the food showed up. In the meantime, when I tried to call the actual store, I got the call center. This was odd to me as earlier this week we were travelling, ordered from a local PH, and when there was a very minor issue, I called the restaurant, dealt with a lovely employee, and it was literally resolved in 2 minutes. Added to that, the delivery driver from that location forgot something and quickly returned with the missing item. The pizza was delicious...very hot and the crispy crust that PH should be known for. Not the case at this location. I called the 'local' number and it was the call center. Not only would the person that answered not listen to what I was trying to explain, the audio feedback was so bad from my end that a normal conversation was sketchy at best. AS I was trying to talk to that customer 'service' rep, the door bell rings...it is the pizza. I put the rep on speaker so she could listen in to my conversation with the driver, as I tried to ask why my pizza was shown as delivered 15-20 minutes before it actually arrived. She hung up! And the driver was no help. Ok...so if it was just the service, I could deal with that. But the food was AWFUL. First of all, it was cold. I am sorry but it is 25 degrees C outside...so how does food get that cold? Pizza was over cooked, and the garlic bread was flavourless. Maybe if we had not so recently ordered from another location, the food would not have seemed that bad but the previous location did such a great job that the contrast was striking! There are many options in Spruce Grove for pizza. Do yourself a favour and pick a...
