Tokyo Express — Restaurant in City of Spruce Grove

There used to be a Tokyo Express years ago in Spruce Grove, but it was replaced by Osaka Sushi - I thought the quality would be the same, but it is not. Osaka is miles ahead of them, in my opinion, when it comes to the quality of their sushi.

Tokyo Express completely mixed the mark for me tonight. The sushi is literally the quality of the sushi you would buy at a convenience store.

I was drawn in by the current Gift Card promotion (Get a $100.00 gift card for $50.00) and I thought, why not try it? I wish I didn't. When my spouse heard I had ordered from Tokyo Express his first words were "you mean that place that makes sushi for 7'11? I think you just wasted $50.00." And he was right.

The customer service is the only redeeming quality, as the staff were really nice but the sushi was NOT good quality. I know quality sushi, Osaka has surprisingly good quality sushi for being in Spruce Grove but Tokyo Express does not. It is just another chain restaurant I wanted to give the chance to because of a good deal on the gift cards. If you are a sushi beginner then you might like it, but if you know good sushi and don't want to feel like you wasted your money - give Tokyo Express...

The only reason that I am leaving a "1" star is because there is no "0". I have bought my lunch during the week many times from this location without incident. Upon my last visit my order was horrible, there is no other way to say it. A half filled Teriyaki bowl that was absolutely flooded with way too much Teriyaki sauce and 4 incredibly small pieces of chicken. I usually don't go back to the restaurants and complain but after spending $17 on such a terrible lunch I went back at the end of the day. The staff member that I talked with apologized and said that she would give me a new meal the following week. Today I went in and a different staff member said that she would not replace my meal and said that this is how the meals are now. I asked to talk with the staff member from last week and she refused. I you want to get a terrible order like I received then this is the place. If you don't and you want good service and a great meal, then go elsewhere. Edo comes to mind. Great meals, generous portions and helpful staff. STAY WAY FROM...

I have been a few times already. Hoping it would improve.

First, man working at cashier upsells constantly even I have rejected politely. I understand it may be part of training, but when customers says no. Please stop✋️

2nd. Quality of rolls are poor. It just falls apart when using chop sticks. You need spoons to eat those.

Are they way cheaper than other quality 🍣 sushi restaurants? No. Does their sushi quality par with others? No.

I do not eat anything raw here as their raw Sashimi grade are very poor.

I will not risk my health.

Recommend : any deep fried (or fully cooked) rolls or sushi. It is okay, not great. But tad better than superstore sushi. Cause rice is warm

DO NOT RECOMMEND : ANY RAW FISH or Teriyaki sauce.

I am sorry to leave such a negative review, but you guys need to step up.

It isn't only this location as I have tried few of their location to compare with.
