It was average service, not bad until I left and my friend who I dined there with told me her encounter with our waitress when she went up to the cash register to pay. I am 52 yrs old and both my childhood friend and I grew up in this area. My friend now lives in Florida and is home to visit her parents for Christmas. We chose this location to meet due to it's proximity and we would not have been able to see each other at all during her visit. I travelled from Toronto SPECIFICALLY for this meal on New Years Eve Day. I am DISGUSTED to have heard the exchange this waitress had with my friend. Asking a customer if they were planning to stay overnight is NOT ACCEPTABLE for a 2 hr stay where we have just dined. WIMPEYS is not fine dining in my books. When staff are hired to deal with the public they should be trained in customer service. I myself am a public servant. The comment that was made shows how small minded this waitress is which feeds into the stereotype people have of Oshawa as a hick town where I grew up. A reminder to the service industry that you NEVER know who you're really dealing with and appearances can be deceiving. It is apparent that this branch of Wimpeys is not really interested in having good business to keep their doors open and...
Read moreOkay. I live a good 10 minutes walk from this wimpys and I loved it before as I do come here all the time. But after the past 2 visits we've just had terrible service by one waiter who was the one that served us. The last time she didn't even give us a menu; just a harsh "What do you want?" exact verbatim. The first time we were served by her she already left the table before we even finished ordering. This is only for 2 people, so it's not that big of a group. The drinks were never refilled nor were we asked if we needed anything else as soon as she drops the food. And she does drop the food. And for this kind of food, it's not worth that kind of service or hostility.
There's another wimpys somewhere else. I suggest you just drive there. Or check out Barnabys which is a local restaurant right by the Tim Hortons at Town line and King. They're always offering good service and great food for cheaper or up to par than this joint. It's also better food.
Edit: I'm not sure how I can directly contact you from here. The waitress in question was the lady who was closing last Sunday from this posted edit. I have to say, after 10 years going to your restaurant, even in the old building you were in where CIBC is now, I never had such terrible service. Quite...
Read moreI was really craving turkey, and tired from a busy day, so I decided to stop here for supper last night. It was beside the dollar store I had to go to, and I’d previously had two good breakfasts there. The last time I’d been was in August.
First off, the waitress was very nice and the service was excellent. She was a different waitress than we had before. Both were great.
I ordered a Fanta, as well as the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, vegetables and extra gravy. I was surprised to see it was essentially $20 before tax, but went with it.
The first Fanta I received tasted really watered down. The second was a bit better.
Unfortunately, while the two breakfasts I had there were quite good, the food last night wasn’t much to write home about.
The picture showed beans, but I got cauliflowers and broccoli, including lots of cut up stem. I get that restaurants cycle vegetables, but it was a bit disappointing. I like these vegetables, but they were steamed and were still quite wet. It made the gravy and plate watery.
I got a decent amount of turkey, but not a ton. It was fine.
The mashed potatoes unfortunately also didn’t have too much taste. It made me wish I’d gotten fries.
I was kind of disappointed after spending over...
