East Side Mario's — Restaurant in Cobourg

I would give it zero stars if I could. Stopped here on our way home to Montreal from Hamilton. Our waitress was more interested in playing with her friend's baby and socializing with her friend across the restaurant than waiting on us during lunch (we were one of two tables, the third got their cheque and left as we sat down) and the other waitress had the other table.

She brought salad in small side bowl (enough for one person at a table for three) and one lukewarm loaf for three people. She didn't return to the table to refill drinks, salad, or bread, until someone else brought out our lukewarm entrees and told her we were asking for her. It was during the buy one get one to take home special and just after our entrees hit the table she finally reappeared and dumped the take home meals on the table on her way back to her visiting.

When I called her back to inquire about the homeloaf we had requested when our entrees arrived, she huffed, returned to the kitchen and came back out to tell us they put one in and it would be another ten minutes and walked away before we could ask for salad or beverage refills. Seriously? Three tables and NO bread ready? We were basically done our entrees when the home loaf arrived and she walked away despite empty salad bowl and drinks and didn't inquire as to how everything was going.

We never did get drink or salad refills and had to ask another server to clear our plates and secure the cheque after we were left sitting with our meals finished for more than ten minutes during which we were in full sight of the server. We ate here on Monday August 21 to take a break and avoid traffic. We won't be back. We should have known there was a reason a phenomenally successful franchise was DEAD EMPTY during what should have been the lunch hour rush. Avoid...

We waited 30 minutes to be seated. Our waitress started off good but disappeared never to be seen again. We got one salad and bread in an hour. She was tending to a big party behind us, had time to chat with them, return several times to bring them appetizers, extra salad and bread, while we waited. We were a party of 2 only! She then returned to tell us the kitchen is backed up so the extra salads we ordered 20 minutes ago are delayed. The food finally came and my food was cold and the pasta was hard from sitting under the heat lamp. The chicken in the tetrazzini looked and tasted like it was from Costco. The after taste of the chicken was shocking. We were scared to even consume it for fear of getting sick. We asked for extra cheese on the pasta from our waitress, because the one that brought it from the kitchen was miserable and barely gave us any cheese, and she proceeded to cash out the large party before coming back to us with the cheese. By then, we were already done our food. We also asked for napkins at the start of the meal and got it at the end of the meal when we reminded her, for the third time. We came in no greeter for the first 4mins of us standing there. We are seated no waitress they didn’t know who it was gonna be because the one who had section shift was done. We finally order we did not get asked for extra bread or salad they take our stuff and walk away. We get food husbands food was not correct and she accidentally spilled food in his lap pizza sauce all over his shirt pants and hands. He got up ran to bath room to clean up. Now waitress did apologize yes. But we had to reorder food the correct food 20 mins he gets new food by this time we lost appetite. I asked for bill and they had not removed his food off bill we didn’t even have a manager come over to speak to us. I made a comment to waitress I said we get nothing for what has happened even though I know we all know it was a accident but no compensation no manager or owner to talk to us and you make us pay the bill?? She says I can go check to take the food off the bill? She leaves comes back and yes they removed the item off the bill.! This is the worst experience of my life and thank god no first or second degree burns on him.
