Of all the Swiss Chalet restaurants we’ve used for a quick and dependable 1/4 chicken, white meat & fries or mixed vegetables, this location is one we will definitely strike off our list. We arrived at 4:43 pm (we were watching the timing as we were driving onwards to north of Trenton). We were seated within 5 minutes. Then we just waited, and waited, and waited. Very unusual. We had to twice “hail a waitress” to take our order but that didn’t work. Finally we called the hostess over and eventually a waitress appeared, took our order and we continued to wait. We, again, asked two different waitresses and the hostess when we’d be getting our meals served. Dinner arrived at 5:24 pm. We’d walked in the door at 4:43 pm. We were not at a fancy restaurant where one lingers over a pre-dinner drink. Our plans had been to be back on the road by 5:30, not just starting to eat. Needless to say, we had to rush through our meals which was not an enjoyable experience and leave about half on the plate. We had a concert to attend and we literally made it to that venue just as the lights were dimming. Never again will Swiss Chalet Cobourg be our on-route stopping spot. We’d both agreed after we’d driven away that we should have just gotten up and walked out. The location was so handy; minutes from the 401 and about halfway to our destination. As a parting jab to the restaurant, we voiced our negative woes to several new customers, both standing in line and those outside heading to the doors. “Terrible experience; had to keep asking to be served; when will we be getting our order”. I did feel it was appropriate to leave our waitress a tip as it was not her fault so why take it out on her. But on the debut machine where the question we always answer with a positive “Yes”, this time we easily hit the “No” button. No, we will not recommend this location, No we will not be back next month, No, we did not appreciate the long wait, No, the service was not up to Swiss Chalet’s standards, No, we did not get value for our money. No, it was not an enjoyable experience. I see by the other recent customer reviews that this seems to be an ongoing trend at this particular location. We did dine there back in June as we were making our way to the same entertainment venue and next month we make a repeat journey. June’s experience was good, quick reliable service. September was just the opposite. We’ll avoid this locale in October & head for fish & chips instead. Swiss Chalet Cobourg could learn a lesson from their Whitby or Oshawa counterparts. Keep the customers happy and they’ll be back ... and they won’t take the time to go online writing their negative willies. Usually I’m the one writing letters of commendations for great customer service. Not this time...
Read moreI wish 0 starts was an option. I also wish that the location would answer their phone to customers or actually have a manager call you as requested to your delivery driver as well as customer service. Pretty sad to see based on the other reviews I actually have to leave a review to get a response- at this point I don't even want a response- I just hope people don't waste their time like I did.
I placed my order lastnight at 4:23, figuring ordering earlier would ensure a reasonable delievery time so we could go about our evening as planned. 5:30 rolls around and still no order so I contacted the store multiple times with no answer. So another half hour rolls around I sent my husband and kids off to hockey without me- as I felt obligated to be home when it arrives as I was paying debit at the door. I then contacted customer service and they said they would contact the store- suprise- they received no answer too. They assured me that my food would be coming and the meal would be free (well I sure would hope so!) 6:45 rolls around- still no meal, so I called the customer service line again- and they were able to get ahold of the manager. He informed me she just got into the store and had no idea what was going on and my order had just changed to "out for delievery" and it would be there shortly.
ANOTHER HOUR.. 7:45 pm rolls around.. I receive a call from the delivery driver saying he's on my street and can't find my house. I ensure him he's not on my street and he told me to turn on a light because it's dark.. my lights were on, and there were no cars on my street. He then showed up at just after 8 pm saying he's sorry he was on the wrong street, and the manager was sorry for the mishap and there's some "extras" in my bag. So these extras included: a pop.
So my order was placed at 4:23 pm and I received it just after 8 pm. OVER THREE and a HALF HOURS LATER... seriously. At this time my kids were home again and I was putting them for baths and bed- so I didn't even get to eat my meal. The order was placed by customer service 3 additional times after my own according to my emails...
Stay clear of this location unless you want your time wasted. The manager still hasn't bothered to give me a call as requested to customer service and the delivery driver even though you'd think she just would out of consideration seeing as what went down- but hey- she gave me a free pop!! AVOID THEM!! This place is a total joke. As a customer who frequently places orders at multiple locations and for my workplace- sadly this location will no longer EVER be considered. This is a small town, and word travels fast. Sad to see such horrible reviews and service in the last few months at...
