Been here four times, and I can safely say that this is the best espresso in Collingwood, which isn't saying much of anything at all, unfortunately. Overextracted and bitter, and they know it, as they always ask if you want sugar.
The guy behind the counter is generally more concerned with talking to other staff and regulars than with customers in general, but he pulls a competent coffee, so it's almost a wash.
The atmosphere is awful, though, and this is not designed for people to comfortably have a coffee. All the seating is solid wood chairs, nothing plush, and everything is monochrome. The only pops of colour other than brown are the leaves of a potted palm and a green, leather upholstered chair, whose promise of comfortable seating is kept only in comparison to the other chairs.
It's drab, full of itself, and too hung up on its past accomplishments to be willing to change from the worst caricature of an early 2000s hipster bar. Not the café that downtown needs, but the one...
Read moreI was on vacation for a few days in Collingwood area. I’m from Toronto.
I had the worst experience ever in any coffee shop. This place wasn’t clean and there were bees all over inside the coffee shop (near the windows and all enclosed), looks like they don’t clean well or ventilate. I was stung by a bee and then asked a server and she denied that they had bees instead of guiding me as I wasn’t feeling well. I very soon fainted and my body swell in no time and was taken to EI collingwood. I was unconscious for a few hours and under treatment for one full day. It wasn’t even that I was sitting outdoors(only indoor seating)/ or in nature. It has been a week of physical and mental trauma for me and my family. Still healing from it, but I thought to write this review to guide both the cafe owner as well as customers who care.
I will rate this place zero stars if cleanliness is of importance for...
Read moreI have recently read a couple of nasty reviews attacking Espresso Post for not wearing masks. They have responded in a civil decent manner to some of the critics. People need to be kind and understanding. This wonderful small family run business have taken instructions and complied with Simcoe Muskoka health unit. They have installed tall plexiglass barriers between customers and staff and have proper signage posted. Customers are masked until they are seated to enjoy their food and beverage. Anyone who is uncomfortable with this is free to not enter. That is your choice. I can’t understand why a few people feel the need to be mean spirited and try to shame others. I support this family business and trust their reasons and decisions just as they are supported by our health unit. If you disagree that is your prerogative but please be kind and not party to...
