I recently ordered a takeout from jfy and both my husband and I were quite happy with how good the food was. We ordered two lamb skewers, chicken with sesame, beef with veggies, hot and sour soup, beef roll, and pan fried pork buns. When we opened up the order at home, we were missing the pork buns so I was a bit disappointed a bit ngl. We have a seven month old baby who needed to go to sleep soon so leaving home again to pickup food was gonna be challenging and annoying as heck. So I called the restaurant again, and they told me they'd bring it to me. Sweeet. While the buns were on their way to our bellies, we got to eat the rest, and we have to say the beef rolls and chicken with sesame were our favourites. Beef rolls were crispy outside and savory inside. Yum. Next, chicken with sesame. My husband never had a chicken dish like that - kinda like a salad so it was a cold dish with shredded chicken and various veggies. Very flavourful. Husband thoroughly liked it. The lamb skewers were yummy too. Weren't dry and were well seasoned. Dare I say better than nice meating you bbq? I'm sure there are better places in Richmond, but for Coquitlam, I'll say it's pleasantly good. Anyway. By the time the buns came, we had already finished eating and were doing the nighttime routine to put our baby to sleep, but we really appreciated the restaurant owning up to the mistake and taking the time to drop off the food -- especially since I finished all the buns after the baby went down lol. The buns would've been great if I had eaten them right away, but they were a bit soft by the time I got to them. I do think these buns should been eaten crispy at the restaurant. Still, the flavour was good enough so it hit the spot. Oh yea, they also included a free dessert which was unnecessary but a very nice gesture indeed. From what we've had so far, we think jfy is a good addition to the food scene around this area. No need to drive far to Vancouver or Richmond for decent Chinese food. (Yans and lucky gate are alright/meh) I look forward to trying their other dishes like noodles or xlbs when we get to sit inside....
Read moreI LOVE the food here and I believe the service and atmosphere will improve once they have more dine in customers! I’ve been looking for authentic Chinese food restaurant like this in Coquitlam especially with spicy cuisine but also the typical noodles, dumplings, etc… I was told the chef is from more northern China and the lady helped us is from Guang Dong and they have been in the restaurant business for decades, I didn’t ask too much about their stories but all I know is this is their newest adventure! I am glad!!!! I see people order for take outs and some people even order everyday but from 7:15 to 9:30 on a Saturday, there were only 4 dine in tables including us, so they do not have extra servers, which is totally understandable… therefore if you are looking for services like cactus club, it’s not going to happen any time soon… nonetheless, I rate the service 10/10 for their friendliness and knowledge of the food, suggestions, the only reason why I give 4 star on google is because I want to stay true to what to expect for the next customers, atmosphere is 3/5 because it is a little dated but to some people this could be a 5/5.. nostalgic feeling! Overall, this is a must try and if you are a local, you might make this restaurant a regular thing… I am going back to try more dishes! Everything we ordered were amazing! Not overly salty or oily and packed with the right amount of spices without being too spicy, we did ask for mild spice. 10/10 for food!...
Read moreThey should call this place GFY instead cause that's the way they treat the people who make the mistake of coming here. They are very rude and unfriendly.
While considering making an order, I saw the young waiter ask the hostess if the dish he was about to serve was fresh enough. It looked spoiled. The hostess said it doesn't matter and the rotten food was served to the only customer who was there at the time. The hostess seems incapable to run a restaurant as she is very confused. I'm not sure she actually knows this is supposed to be a restaurant that she works in.
Seeing other reviews which mention moldy food, I'm glad I decided to leave instead of eat here.
The place always seems to have no customers so hopefully they will go out of...
