I don’t like leaving negative reviews. The waitress was quite nice and did her best I’m sure. I think this is a Chinese restaurant that might "specialize" in regional food and judging by the reviews from Chinese patrons it must be authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. However, as a foodie in the lower mainland I found the food extremely bland ( sadly I could add more here). In fact, we were quite surprised as each item came out of the kitchen, much less tasty than the one before, we realized that the chef didn’t use spice, chili oil, salt, garlic or pepper to flavor the food. I’ve read that some regions of world, chefs only flavor their cuisine with meat. Perhaps this is the case here. Out of a score of 1-5 ( 1 isn't good) Hot & sour soup. Needed salt to bring out the flavors: 2/5 Deep Fried eggplant: this wasn’t bad, but was quite mushy 3/5 Veggie chow mien: bland 2/5 Tofu & veggie dumpling: bland even with vinegar 2/5 Chinese Cabbage & mushrooms: bland needed garlic 1/5 The bill came to $86 with tip. We left really disappointed, but it’s our fault for not reading the reviews left by you peeps! I’m giving this place a 3/5 to be fair that perhaps it maybe help be regional cuisine. So if you are expecting huge flavor and don’t eat meat like me, give this...
Read moreHad the worst service at this restaurant today. There was only one server, girl with glasses and a pony tail. Yeah we understand that she is busy and maybe overwhelmed, but don’t take out on your customers. She was literally throwing things around. We sit down, no menu, no tea. My husband asked for a pop, she put a can on the table. When my husband asked if there is a glass she said “Noooo!” With a very noticeable attitude. At one point she started yelling at all the customers:”grab what you need yourself, I am too busy.” I have never seen anything like that in my life. We ordered 4 dishes and the last dish never came. I had to cancel as we finished our dinner already. Very bad experience and will never return again. Hopefully the owner who owns the restaurant for years will have some sense to replace her soon. Not sure how many long term customers they have lost...
Read moreI ordered a takeout from here (Jan 2020). Ordering on the phone was a little challenging as the other person didn’t speak English very well.
I ordered green beans with tofu, assorted vegetable chow mein and vegetable dumplings. I inquired about other vegetarian dishes but apparently wherever it said seasonal vegetables or vegetable, it meant spinach. So veg fried rice was spinach and egg. Seasonal vegetable with tofu was spinach and tofu and so on. Very disappointed in that.
Chowmein was ok. Dumplings had a weird smell. I couldn’t figure out what it was and ended up not eating them. Green beans were good. Very flavourful and spicy.
Upon my pick up, I realized they don’t take credit cards. I think they should have told me on the phone. Debit and cash only.
Will not be going back for mediocre food considering this experience and challenge in ordering it...
