Been coming here for years and somehow it manages to only get better. The flavors are super crave-able and everything is always really fresh and tasty. They recently gave the restaurant a nice facelift and now serve local craft beers on tap! Would be really cool to see them collaborate with a local brewery and make their own beer! Something easy drinking that would pair well with their delicious food. In my opinion, this place blows all the other Chinese restaurants in the area out of the water. Quick, friendly service and great atmosphere. A big fan of their menu rebranding too! My only wish is that they did a weekend dim sum menu! Think that would go over super well in this neighborhood. Thanks for all the great food!
Edit May/13/2020: years later and still calling this place my fave Chinese takeout. An absolute classic. When we are far from home, this is the place we miss. Always really fresh, tasty food. Fave dishes as of late are the ginger chicken and the beef chow fun. Never disappoints. I 10/10 would recommend getting the larger spring rolls over the mini ones. The large ones are made in house and honestly they are the best, they are stuffed with fresh crispy veggies and always very crispy (even when delivered). The mini ones I'm pretty sure are just frozen, not nearly as good, kinda janky. Have seen a couple reviews complaining about the mini spring rolls. Get the big...
Read moreVery underwhelming. We got take out tonight and were sorely disappointed. First of all, how about adding some seasoning?? Either this experience was a one off, or all these 4 and 5 star reviews are written by people without taste buds. I don't know, maybe their "C team" was in the kitchen tonight. Everything except the ginger beef seemed to be doused in some sort of flavourless slime. The ginger beef was good, but a bit pricey for a dish that literally looks like cat poo in a bowl. The wonton soup had about as much flavour as what I imagine used bath water has. Maybe that's on purpose so you can add to it, I'm not sure, but for $7.50 for barely 400 mL I expected it to be much better. The spring rolls were overpriced and really not that good, and the cook really skimped on the meat in all the dishes.
The vegetables were actually properly cooked though. Hooray!
For one of "the best Chinese food restaurants in Coquitlam," we most certainly will not be going back. We're not even foodie type people, but if we eat at a restaurant, it should be better than what we could make ourselves.
I have to say, it was definitely not as terrible as Hon's though. So...
Read moreI stopped in at this location thinking it was a new restaurant. He building looks very clean and new. They told me that they've been there for 20 years. The staff was super friendly and nice. I made an order for pick up. The chicken ball combo was pretty bad. The chicken tasted like fried chicken and old oil in the fryer. The sauce was in a container on the side which allowed the chicken to get even dryer. I ordered an extra portion of fried rice for my wife as my meal came with chicken fried rice and she's a vegetarian. Her rice and mine were identical except I had 1, 1 total piece of chicken in the "chicken fried rice." The piece was smaller than a kidney bean. My wife was very disappointed with her meal as well. No flavour and a modest price for the portion. I've had better Chinese food in a mall food court. We don't eat Chinese food too often, but we had to have some the next day to get that nice Chinese meal satisfaction. We picked up from New Chows kitchen on Lougheed between shaughnessy and Westwood across the Husky gas station. Much better food, bigger portions and at a better price....
