We think this is where Koreans eat when they're not cooking at home! 😋
We discovered Hansol 한솔 Korean Restaurant after seeing so many rave reviews. This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community.
The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite.
Here's what we ordered: 🥩 Beef Tartare Bibimbap – Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish!
🍜 Naengmyeon – Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day.
🥢 Japchae – Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all—just the right balance of flavour.
Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours—Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We are highly recommend it for students, families, or anyone who loves real Korean cooking!

Read moreWe saw that a new Korean place had opened recently so it was time to go try! It's a small restaurant but very clean and they've kept it spacious for guests. I assume it was the owner running the place since it was a lazy Thursday afternoon (around 1pm) with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. They started us with some pumpkin soup, which my dad already approved of after a few sips! Off to a good start.
For the three of us we ordered the LA Galbi ($25.99), Yangwootang ($18.99), and Donkatsu ($17.99). We had leftovers for a meal for one because their portions were so generous!
The Galbi was seasoned well with soft tender cuts of beef short rib which weren't too fatty. A nice staple dish.
The Yangwootang is a beef intestines and honeycomb tripe in a spicy soup. It was flavorful and quite spicy! I have never had this before, but def prefer pork intestines, as the beef intestines was quite mushy and soft.
The donkatsu was crispy and light, with fluffy pork inside, it was delicious! The breading was just the right amount and came with TWO pieces!
I love a Korean place that offers banchan (side dishes) throughout the meal and doesn't charge extra for refills, and they did just that here! The side dishes were kimchi, radish kimchi, fishcake, bean sprouts and potato.
I also must note I felt quite fancy with their nice utensils and gold bowls! I like the attention to detail where the rice bowl containers are double layered (commonly only single layered) so you don't burn your fingers holding it! Will definitely be back to try more of...
Read moreI’ve been here 4 times in the past year and never had any issues. However, I was extremely disappointed by the service and food during my most recent visit with my mom. We both ordered the Gamjatang soup. I had 2 bites of the pork and felt that it tasted funny. I did not say anything as I thought it was just that one piece. My mom then asked me if my pork tasted funny and I said yes. I then tried another piece and the meat peeled off like pork jerky. The texture was very dry. The coloring looked off (greenish, yellowy) It smelled and tasted funny. I then let the staff know that the meat was not fresh. She went back in the kitchen and then told me that the meat was freah and it arrived yesterday. I said I’ve been here multiple times and had the same dish and it should not taste like that. The staff just smiled and giggled and said “oh sorry, sorry.” She did not offer to change the dish or ask if we wanted to order anything else. Because the soup also had a foul smell, we did not end up eating any of it and just had some side dishes with the rice. When I asked the waitress to grab the bill, she looked very unhappy. Not sure why she was upset when I politely and honestly told her to food was not fresh. It’s unfortunate as I liked this place but if they’re serving old meat that is so dry that it’s peeling off like jerky, I don’t think...
