Denny's Restaurant — Restaurant in Cranbrook

Never had such horrifically ​bad service.

I went there for my birthday brunch over the weekend with a friend. The waitress was incredibly rude when taking our simple order, and stormed away before I was sure she even took the whole order. My coffee (filled with grounds) was eventually thrown on the table, and my friends' smoothie had lots of ice chunks at least a cm in diameter. We tried to grab the servers attention but were promptly and actively ignored. I tried for 40min to get a coffee refill, but every time my waitress walked past, she purposefully looked in the opposite direction. The gentlemen at the table beside us had apparently been waiting so long, they asked the man bussing tables to check on their food, and asked a waitress twice. I watched the man bussing tables rush a lady out of her booth as soon as she was finished eating, and he spent nearly the whole hour we were waiting for our food crowding our table with his cart, standing over us, completely lacking any distancing. During this time, I watched several angry groups of people walk out of the restaurant. The icing on the cake though was watching my eggs Benny get soggy and gross in the window for 20 full minutes. The cook even tried to get a server to take my dish by pushing it forward when she came to grab plates, but she pushed it back and grabbed someone else's food which had been in the window for much less time. Our server was nowhere to be seen, my meal had congealed in the window, and we had obviously been ignored to the point of being forgotten. We left $10 on the table to pay for our drinks and walked out to get brunch somewhere else.

Yes, they were short staffed. And yes, the staff they have are obviously overworked and under-paid. But that treatment was completely unacceptable. There should be no reason a customer watches their eggs sit in the window for a full 20min, especially after being dismissed, treated rudely, and ignored. If the restaurant doesn't have the staff to minimally serve the people who are seated, why did they keep seating people?

Do yourself a favor and just get brunch at one of the amazing local restaurants instead. This particular branch of this chain is a huge, disappointing, waste of time. I'll never be back, and I'm going out of my way to ensure no one I know eats here ever again. It was honestly the worst dining experience of my life, and I didn't even get to...

The wife and I went here for late meal. Was served by a young lady tonight. I couldn't tell you her name she did not introduce herself. She took our order. Ordered an omelette with toast and hashbrowns with a side of pancakes. The wife ordered slim fit slam Our food came Mine was a sandwich and nothing else. The wife got her slim fit. So I quickly responded as she left our table I ordered an omelette, she replied that she heard me say sandwich... Then went to go fix it I saw her again a minute later and asked for my pancakes at least.? And she said oh yes one sec. Then ran to the kitchen to add pancakes to the new order. That did get added to my order either I guess... The food came a decent while later well after my wife was done eating and she doesnt eat fast... and guess what it was an omelette with some pancakes No toast no hashbrown. Gave the wife my card and I walked out and refused the food. If I didn't I probably would have made a scene I was pretty hangry at that point. They did not charge me for any of my not eaten food. To the server please get a note pad To the cook I'm sure the food was great And the wife enjoyed her meal. To the manager please take time to share the importance of customer service. This Denny's is a place I have been to very often. It is open 24 hours, serves alcohol and I've almost never been disappointed there. Please keep in mind this review is very thorough and as such, I have taken consideration a large number of visits to this location. The service is almost always friendly, efficient and professional. On my most recent visit, a very nice gentleman was the waiter and was very pleasant and helpful to deal with. I followed his recommendation for dinner and was extremely impressed. The waiter showed his knowledge of menu item, this is always a good thing to look for at any restaurant. The food is mostly always the same quality as any diner, with rare occasional slip ups in my experience. In the most recent visit, I had a burger which was perhaps one of the best I have had to date (you know the food is good when I kept quiet and ate, instead of talking with the other people at my table). The ambiance is friendly and the prices are not excessive. Some items are pricey but for the most part there is something for every budget.
