Tandoori Flame Surrey – A Long-Awaited Visit That Truly Delivered!
Tandoori Flame had been on my bucket list ever since I moved to Canada. For some reason, the visit kept getting postponed—but finally, on June 24, we made it there for dinner, and it was absolutely worth the wait!
Probably one of the largest Indian buffet chains in Vancouver and its suburbs, this location sits conveniently at the Surrey–Delta border. Despite being in a busy area, the venue offers ample free parking, which is a big plus.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the tone. The entry area gives off an authentic Indian vibe. On your left is a stylish bar, and straight ahead, the reception desk. Whether you have a reservation or not, you’re greeted warmly and given a token. Unless you’re in a group of 2-3 or fewer, I strongly recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait or potential disappointment.
We were assisted by a very friendly and supportive hostess who seated us within 5 minutes it felt almost like a star hotel experience.
Inside, the ambiance was impressive: calm lighting, tasteful decor, and a soothing vibe that made for a comfortable dining setting.
The Buffet Experience:
Since it was a weekday, the price was around $34+ per person. The spread was vast and authentic; starting from appetizers, chaats, and a salad bar, to a rich variety of main courses and desserts. Every dish I tried was flavorful and well-prepared. I went back for three rounds and still felt like I couldn’t do justice to the full variety!
I especially enjoyed the meat section, which included both halal and non-halal options (which i tried the both). If you’re like me and want to get the most out of your visit, I’d suggest skipping or limiting your time at the salad and chaat stations and focusing more on the main dishes.
The desserts had all the familiar Indian classics, my favorites were the halwa and kheer.
Our table was served by a gentleman named Jenson (not sure whether i spelled it correctly) a very humble and attentive server who always had a smile on his face. Excellent service from him made the experience even better.
Final Verdict:
Overall, the evening was a wonderful culinary experience. We left fully satisfied and are already planning a return trip, maybe for lunch next time. If you’re in the Vancouver area and looking for a high quality Indian buffet, Tandoori Flame is highly...
Read moreTandoori Flame in Surrey is a complete SCAM.
The restaurant serves low-quality, frozen food, misrepresents its buffet offerings, and deceptively charges for drinks and even water. Despite advertising 150+ items, there are only around 20, many of which are not replenished. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place!
To summarize:
Misleading Buffet Size: The restaurant claims to offer 150+ items but only serves around 20, with many items not restocked.
Low-Quality, Frozen Food: The buffet featured reheated, frozen items rather than fresh, high-quality dishes.
Cheap Ice Creams: The ice creams were clearly made from substandard ingredients.
Hidden Charges: Drinks and water were charged without prior notification, misleading diners into thinking they were included in the buffet.
I recently dined at Tandoori Flame in Surrey, expecting a pleasant experience based on their buffet offerings. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be a major disappointment due to several deceptive practices and subpar quality.
First off, the food quality was alarmingly poor. Much of the buffet consisted of frozen items that tasted reheated rather than freshly made. The ice creams, in particular, were of the lowest quality, hinting at the overall cheapness of the ingredients used.
The billing experience was where things really went south. We were stunned to see a $39 charge for a single drink. The drinks menu, presented with appealing images but no prices or sizes, created a false sense of inclusion or reasonable pricing. To make matters worse, even the water served at the table was billed, misleading us into thinking it was part of the buffet.
When we brought these issues to the attention of the manager, the response was underwhelming. We were told we should have scanned a QR code to find out drink prices—an impractical and hidden method that does not excuse the lack of upfront information. The buffet was advertised as offering 150+ items, yet there were only about 20, and many were not replenished, leading to empty plates and a lackluster experience.
Tandoori Flame’s deceptive practices and poor food quality make it a restaurant to avoid. It’s crucial for dining establishments to be transparent about their offerings and pricing. I hope Tandoori Flame addresses these issues and improves their service to avoid misleading...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended by many food bloggers and Indians so had to try it during our trip to Vancouver. We had an OpenTable reservation cos we were visiting on a weekend and heard about long wait times. When we walked in the lobby was packed with folks waiting to be seated. We were taken to our table in notime. Now this is a buffet place one of the largest I have ever seen or been to. So once you are seated feel free to tour around and start devouring their dishes.
They have something for everyone - meat lovers, halal eaters & vegetarians. They have several counters for indian street food snack items - chaat, south indian cuisine - dosa & sambar, north indian specialty chole bhature, italian corner serves mini pizzas & make your own pasta dishes, corner to make your own chutney, etc. For appetizers they had chicken tandoori & kasturi murg tikkas (fantastic), malai tikka, fish pakora, seekh kebab (all good).. for Main course they had butter chicken (fantastic), laal maas (lamb) - amazing, goat curry, prawns malai curry & methi murgh (all were good). Their chicken biryani was okay it lacked a bit of seasoning imo but it still tasted okay nothing terrible. They also have a halal counter which serves halal food and another counter were you can get indo chinese items like honey chilli potato, chilli chicken, chilli fish & noodles. They had a separate naan counter were they made fresh naans!
The desserts here are also very very good.. I tasted their chocolate cake (fantastic), kheer, phirni, gulab jamun, malpua with rabri & butterscotch ice cream and devoured everything I ate. Loads of variety of everybody. We did not order any drinks to save space for food so no clue how their cocktails are. The only one thing I want to mention pure vegetarian eaters may have a problem with how the tongs can get interchanged with non veg folks items. I saw this multiple times while I was there but thats not something you can control unless you have a strictly different station for vegetarian folks.
Ambience is good. They have a huge indoor dining area so there is ample space but this place is very popular among locals and is packed on weekends. Highly recommend this place for delicious...
