Belly Ice Cream — Restaurant in District Municipality of Muskoka

We had high hopes based on the reviews but were sadly disappointed by the rude and pretentious attitudes of the 2 young girls working the counter. The place was not busy at all and we came in with 4 kids excited to get ice cream, and possibly some tubs to take home. One of the toddlers screamed with excitement and one of the girls had the audacity to plug her ears and roll her eyes at us. When we asked questions about the flavours the girls answers were short and they seemed very annoyed. I would highly recommend some customer service training or some new hiring. We left with disappointed littles who were more than happy to go to kawartha instead.

I don’t ever complain especially about small businesses but I thought this was something the owner should know about. I’m glad you feel trust for your employees but sad to see your company lose business bc of their attitude towards paying customers. The ice cream is delicious, but they apparently have some VERY firm ideas about how it should be enjoyed. I tried to order a chocolate sundae, but the cashier told that The Belly Sundae™ was made exclusively with vanilla ice cream. When I explained my (admittedly outlandish) desire to substitute vanilla for chocolate, she told me that wasn't possible because every flavor has a different price. I pointed out that she could just charge me the difference, but she insisted that she had been told to make the sundae with vanilla, so that was the only way she was going to do make it. So in the end I got the vanilla sundae, and it was really tasty, but this was probably the most bizarrely obstinate customer service I've ever encountered in my life. Belly Ice Cream seems to respond to most reviews here so I sure hope they clarify whether this was actual company policy or just a worker who really wasn't in the mood for substitutions that day. Cute little place and flavours on the website looked awesome! When we got there, three staff members were working. There was one family with 2 kids and 2 adults infront of us, ordering 3 milkshakes. It took almost 10 mins for 3 people to make 3 milkshakes. 2 staff members ignored us entirely. Finally one kid spoke to us. He was absolutely miserable and so rude. It was in that moment that I decided not to bother ordering anything for myself, just my son who I had promised ice cream. The flavours available were different than listed on the website, which is disappointing but was fine. Ordered a waffle one with one flavour. It was the tiniest scoop I’ve ever seen, barely could even see it out the top of the waffle cone. Cost almost $7 and tasted no better than a grocery store ice cream.

They definitely need to work on their customer service and sizing...
