Our experience was tainted by the inconsistency of the restaurant. When served, only half of us were given water and then the server walked away with the jug of water (all the other tables were given jugs). Then another much better server started taking our drink order (the restaurant was drastically under staffed with only 2 servers running the take out, cash and tables while the restaurant was at full capacity). The service to just get our drinks was very slow. There was a queue nearly out the door with people waiting to pay for their meal or take out or cancel their meal. One server seemed to do all the work while the other just ran around adjusting the volume on the tv, etc. 2 tables next to us decided to cancel their orders as they were waiting to be served when we entered the establishment and were still waiting for their food by the time our appetizers came out. We ordered two plates of samosas. They were way too spicy but the waitress had warned us so we should have known. What no one was expecting was that one plate of samosas (3 samosas) came out of the kitchen and was served to us completely frozen. They had obviously been in a freezer and the chef had forgotten to heat them up. It was very disappointing but our server was very apologetic and didn’t charge us for the samosas (which we didn’t eat). Our main meal was enjoyable, definitely no complaints there (no awards given either). The only other issue with the restaurant was the menu. The menus were physically in tatters and my mother’s menu was even missing a page. Also almost half of the menu was unavailable or had to be altered due to a lack of ingredients. We would order something and our waitress would tell us either it wasn’t available or had to be changed (missing ingredient or ingredients). The only drinks that were on the menu that Marigold actually had the evening we visited was Mango Lassi, a few kinds of sodas and water. Not the worst restaurant I’ve been to but definitely the worst Indian restaurant I’ve been to. The major staffing problems, lack of available food and drink, and being served frozen food was very disappointing from a restaurant with so many (unimpressed) customers in it. (Also the fact that neither washroom door lock was working really added a special something to the whole experience). Very...
Read moreReally disappointed with the service. We were planning our visit to muskoka from quite a long time . knowing the fact that we can take our parents to indian restaurants. We did dinning at marigold located at bracebridge couple years ago when they only had one location. This time We did our stay closer to this place. We checked online, this place closes at 9:30 . I called them at 8 pm when they told us that there's no room to accommodate as the girl over the phone said we are so full and then forwarded the call to one of the guy working in kitchen . We reached here at 8 :30 pm . There was only 1 table for 4 people sitting other then that it was all empty. The girl on the counter was showing attitude and she told that we can not let you dine in you can do take out. While deciding the dishes she never told that they are out of roti and Naan. I ordered 2 daal 2 paneer Tika Masala. When we were ordering Naan. She told that there are only 2 doughs left in the kitchen , Which means 2 Naan only. We were group of 7. How can 2 Naan serve 7 people anyways???? We were staying in hotel and though that we will just walk and do dine in there . 20 minutes of walk served no purpose. We ended up getting 5 bowl of rice. Spoke to the owner and he said my workers needs to go home at 8 pm. I did not get that why on google they have there dine in open untill 9:30 pm . Would like to give them 0 review because of terrible customer service. We wasted our whole evening. It was my mother-in-laws birthday. We could have had pizza instead but because it was our fault to walk there and dine in . If we had our card we could truly have gone somewhere else . Girl on the counter switched off the open sign at 9 :15 pm and when we did humble request that we can eat in our takeout boxes . She said we have closed the open sign . Grow up you people.. I personally have worked in faced paced restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this place ever. Spent almost $200 at takeaway. Cz we had no other option. Don't get fooled by their name. You can learn how to Take advantage of the situation from these people....
Read moreI visited around 4:30 pm and noticed the restaurant was quite full, so we patiently waited to be seated. A staff member with a beard approached us and immediately started speaking in his own language, assuming that we would understand. First of all, just because someone is brown does not mean they automatically speak your language.
We politely asked how long it would take before we could place an order, and he replied that it might take 35–45 minutes. We let him know that we were fine with waiting and would sit at one of the empty tables. At that point, his entire demeanor changed—his face and expressions came across as rude and dismissive.
Even though we were hungry, we were willing to wait. But what made the experience worse was that nobody came by to check on us, provide menus, or even acknowledge our presence. We understand the restaurant was busy, but customer service should never be neglected. A simple smile, a polite response, or at least some effort to make customers feel welcome goes a long way.
To the staff member who was at the front that day: please try to be more respectful and polite. I have worked in customer service for over two years, so I fully understand how stressful and overwhelming it can get when things are busy or when you’re having a rough day. But part of working in this industry is maintaining professionalism and treating customers kindly.
Unfortunately, after waiting without any acknowledgment, we decided to leave. This was disappointing, as we were genuinely looking forward to dining here. Hopefully, this feedback helps improve the customer service experience for...
