Ordered the original (which comes dusted with cinnamon sugar). It's usually my go-to at other locations so I know what I'm supposed to be getting - but this location was disappointing, flavourless, and worst of all, unsanitary. This was the worst Beavertail I've ever had in my life. Disappointing after making it up the Grouse.
The beavertail itself was not fried properly - it was hard, insanely thin, with lots of air bubbles, more like a cracker and not the nice chewy pillowy pastry it is supposed to be.
The most absurd thing is that they did not even put any cinnamon sugar on it. I took a bite thinking maybe they only put a bit and it melted onto the pastry - but no, it was bland and flavourless.
I took it back to the shop, where Raj was working that day, and politely asked if he forgot to put the cinnamon sugar topping. He talked back in a rude manner and said he did. His coworker took a look at my Beavertail and told Raj that he did not put enough even if he claims he did. So Raj took my Beavertail, and sprinkled the cinnamon sugar topping while telling his coworker that this is too much. Has Raj not completed training? Does he not know what an actual Beavertail looks or tastes like?
Now the grossest part, I took a bite out of this beavertail already, and I told them that and even showed them. After Raj dumped the cinnamon sugar topping on my already bitten beavertail, he then poured back the excess cinnamon sugar on my beavertail back into their container that they use for fresh beavertails (and not into a garbage can or perhaps just giving it back to me). It was horrifying and I'm glad I wasn't sick or else that would've made other sick too. But if Raj thinks what he did was okay, I can't imagine what other sanitary practises he has while working here.

Read moreWe tried Beavertails several years ago and since then we would always talk about wanting it again when we go back up Grouse, but they were always closed. Yesterday we finally made it up while they were open and were so excited.
It took half an hour to even get the Beavertails. Not great when you are planning to do a hike afterwards.
The worst part is that the tails themselves were just not the same. Frankly, they sucked. They were paper thin and super crispy, instead of the soft and doughy ones we remembered. I’m not sure if it was an off day or what, but it was especially annoying to wait so long for them and spend an unreasonable amount of money for what was essentially an envelope sized piece of crispy dough that shattered into pieces when you tried to eat it. On the bright side, now I don’t have to worry about craving a...
Read moreYesterday, I ordered a beavertail. We were in the lineup for at least half an hour. There were a large crowd of students, probably from well off families, in front of us, probably for summer camp. I can understand why that would slow down the lineup but it wouldn't slow it down that much if all it required was to deep fry a dough and sprinkle toppings over it. How hard could it be?! I looked inside the window. The staff were making no attempt to move faster. Actually, they both moved at a snail's pace. Both of them should be fired. For an order for three people for a small size of flatten cheap dough that was $10 to $12 each, they already made a whopping $40. I heard it used to be two or three times as big with a soft and pillowy texture but for only $4. The dough was thin and some parts were hard and flakey...
