We've been meaning to try Moja for awhile and thought it would be nice to support a small local business (my wife has been in business including F&B for years so she makes an effort at trying new places. Just yesterday a friend reminded me about Moja, we were really looking forward to going and arranged to go with another couple who we usually do Saturday morning coffee and pastries around town.. to meet us there.
It was quite busy when we arrived, we lined up and ordered our coffees and teas and pastries. I brought our chocolate croissant and slice of carrot cake to the table. My wife looked at it and then touched it and it was dry and hard... carrot cake naturally is soft and moist and a dependable go-to treat. She was a bit hesitant but decided to take it up to the side counter and said to the barissta she wished her husband got her a croissant instead and not the carrot cake, could she exchange it? The guy said they couldn't exchange it because it was a different price -never offering the option to pay the difference- then said because it was a food safe issue they couldn't take it back. Funny how other cafes and restaurants can take items away and replace or refund the item...apparently not here! So she left it on the counter... I asked what happened and she told me so..... I went up and told him she dint like it because she found it hard and dry... he countered back and said "I thought she wanted a croissant which is it".... at that point my wife hearing this got up and said, I said that because I didn't want to complain infront of your other customers and impact your sales and embarrass the business and in doing so blamed me for choosing the wrong item. He was argumentative and because of the poor customer service we will never return.
As he walked away with the piece I saw him poke his finger into it.
This kind of argumentative and defensive attitude with customers will drive them away... even a bigger chain would be sure to make things right thus is the extra little thing that can make a difference to a small business by caring about their clients.
Will not be back and will be sure to make use of the word of mouth...
