I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Seymour’s in North Vancouver. As a vegan, I was appalled to discover that the only meal the pub could offer me was a basic salad—essentially lettuce with vinaigrette, a few pieces of cucumber, and tomato—with the feta cheese removed. When I asked to substitute the feta with any other vegetable to make the dish remotely filling, I was told the kitchen had “added extra veggies,” which translated to a couple more pieces of tomato and cucumber. This was a pathetic excuse for a meal and a complete failure to cater to dietary requirements.
When the server came for a “quality control check,” I reluctantly said it was “fine.” Why? I was in a busy, noisy environment, hungry, halfway through eating my lettuce bowl, and frankly didn’t want to cause a scene mid-meal. However, when I later expressed my dissatisfaction, I was met with a total lack of understanding. The manager was dismissive and indifferent, repeating that I “had my chance” during the check—essentially blaming me for their failure to provide a decent, satisfying meal.
This policy of giving customers only one chance to voice concerns, particularly in such a setting, is ridiculous and feels like a complete cop-out. Instead of listening to my feedback and addressing the issue, the manager simply doubled down and refused to engage meaningfully.
To make matters worse, I am certain I was overcharged for this subpar experience. The bill came to $61 for my pitiful salad, my partner’s burger, and a single pint of lager, which is extortionate. I didn’t get a receipt because, after such a frustrating experience with the staff, I was desperate to leave. I suspect they added a service charge, which is laughable considering the lack of quality or care we received. If that’s the case, it’s not just disappointing—it’s deceitful.
The quality of food, service, and customer care was abysmal. Seymour’s made it abundantly clear that vegans are unwelcome and that customer satisfaction is not a priority. I left feeling ignored, undervalued, and frustrated. I will never return and would strongly caution others against visiting if you have any dietary preferences or expectations of decent service. If I could leave a 0 star...
Read moreOur recent visit to Seymour's was nothing short of appalling. As longtime patrons of this establishment, we have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but this experience has left us deeply disappointed and questioning whether we will return.
After finishing our meal at the restaurant, we left what we considered a fair tip based on the service we received. To our utter shock, the waitress—who seemed to be new—confronted us about the tip, expressing her dissatisfaction in a manner that was both unprofessional and outright hostile. She went as far as telling us that we were "not welcome" at the pub in the future. This was not only insulting but completely uncalled for.
We were left speechless. In all our years of dining out, we have never been treated with such blatant disrespect. The fact that this happened at a place we’ve frequented multiple times makes it even more disappointing. While we understand that new staff may still be learning the ropes, there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour. A simple conversation or a polite approach would have been far more appropriate than outright hostility.
This incident has tarnished our perception of what was once a favourite spot. We frequented the spot as we all went to University right up the road from there. We urge the management to address this issue immediately and ensure that all staff, especially new hires, are trained to handle situations with professionalism and courtesy. No customer should ever be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected, especially over something as trivial as a tip that didn't seem to satisfy her.
Until significant changes are made, we cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to...
Read moreWe went to relax and have a bite to eat . Had a lovely gal (Arta) serving us on Wednesday, August 23/23 just before 6 pm. We sat down in a quieter section to enjoy conversation and have dinner. We ordered a beverage and then the chicken wings that were on special to start. We were all enjoying and then they set a table in front of our table for 8 people. Slowly people came, more and more . So long story short 16 was the final count before we decided to leave as they were now infringing into our space.
The server was very apologetic. However when I talked to the Manager on duty at 7:50 pm. I explained our server was very good and great customer service, however when I was explaining everything to the Manager, she had a poker face and only could say " I am so sorry about that" repeated it like a worn out record.
If they saw what was happening why did they not move us to another table ? I suggested to the Manager if you see a table be crowded out offer another location, be proactive.
We decided to leave, as we were going to order more food and beverage but were feeling uncomfortable.
We have all attended retirement parties, birthday celebrations , here from work and socially. I don't think we will have or attend future functions at Seymour Pub & Grill. Very disappointed on how we were treated by...
