Last week I was in Halifax Nova Scotia for a week’s holiday! It was amazing first day we went a cross the ferry to Dartmouth at the ferry terminal we were given a tip from a local artisan that the best fish dinner was at Fishermen Cove “ what’s the scoop”. Off we went relying on local bus system and very kind locals who assisted our adventure! This tip did not disappoint we chatted with Matty ! what a delightful young lady she helped us order we shared a lobster sandwich and a fisherman platter which we sampled all the seafoods!! We both took pictures how fluffy and fresh the food was! Mmmm good! We also had ice cream which was another tip given called “mountain mist “ delicious!! Thank you for the great memories we told everyone to go there!

Always top notch service . Went in for dinner this evening. Hubby ordered his clubhouse and I had the 1 pc fish and chips and we shared an order of deep fried pickles . I’m a real stickler for my fish being properly cooked and this also means the batter too . Some places we have been to don’t cook it long enough causing the batter to be raw and gooey on the inside but not these guys , cooked to perfection everytime . The pickles omg are amazing . And the homemade flakie that I ordered I had to bring home to snack on later because the portion sizes were just perfect that there was no room for dessert . These homemade flakies though omg you need to try them . They are so much better than any of those lunch snacks we used to get as kids .

What's the Scoop is a delicious place to go for fish and chips and may very well have the very best fish and chips in the city (yes - better than John's Lunch)! The fish has a crisp, greasy coating and are huge! The fish tastes super fresh and is incredibly flavourful. Fries are plentiful as well. I gave Whats the Scoop 4 stars instead of 5 because they did not have homemade/housemade tartar sauce. The fish is so delicious, having it with Kraft tartar sauce does it a dis-service.

great service and atmosphere, and outdoor patio to sit down. the loaded fries with bacon bits, green onion and cheese were great! however, my partner and i were a bit disappointed by our food. she got a deluxe hamburger and it was really small, like you can get a bigger one at fast food chain places! also, my fish (single piece) that i got wasn’t the best. this is because it was more batter than fish, and had huge pockets of air between the fish and the batter, making the actual piece of fish fairly small.

i mean, if you’re doing well financially and don’t care about spending more money on mediocre food go for it! but if you’re wondering if you should save your money for somewhere else that provides more value and quality for your food, then maybe go...
