Was disappointed with this visit to Belgravia Hub. Been here a few times previous and it had always been great, but I had been maybe a year. Walked in for our reservations and a dark haired girl was standing at computer. All she did was point out the table to me, no pleasantries at all. She ended up being our server & not even a ‘Hi how are you tonight?’ was spoken to us. We had to ask her what each special was, she offered nothing up to us. She should’ve listed all the specials, but she had zero personality. Zero. I cannot stand that. My friend had been there last week & said this same waitress was in a better mood then, but this is your job. It was like it was torturous for her to be there. We ordered the corn fritters and pork bites, both were delicious. Dinner was 1 fish stew which was severely lacking in seasoning. One braised beef which was dry and needed salt and one jambalaya which actually had good seasoning, but it was lucky if the were 3 shrimp in it and they are the small little shrimp at that. Just curious what happened to serving prawns in a jambalaya? Dessert was the chocolate ganache tart. It was good. I have to say though, based on tonight the quality of this place has gone downhill. We all left saying it’d be a very long time before we ever returned and that’s disappointing. We enjoy supporting our great local restaurants, but with so many great ones out there why return to an average place with...
Read moreThis place is such a hidden treasure. There were two of us who ate lunch. We ordered the fritters for a starter. These amazing balls of perfection are Belgravia Hub's claim to fame and I can see why. They were full of flavour, with an authentic cornmeal crunch and lots of corn. They also had strawberry puree and a savory tomato sauce. Both were delicious. We then split the warm beet garden salad. It had a baby greens mixture with apples, candied walnuts, red onion, creamy feta and warm beets. It was large and plenty enough to share. Our entree was penne pasta with grilled chicken and fresh peas tossed in a creamy lightly infused grain mustard sauce. It was mild and fresh tasting. The kindly obliged to split it in the kitchen For desert we had the berry custard wam bread pudding and a triple fruit cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We both agreed that the bread pudding was unique and delicious. We didn't order drinks. We had cucumber infused water which was a very nice touch this restaurant provides. Our water glasses never went empty. The service was great. Our server was so friendly and very efficient. The entire meal came to $55 and worth every dollar. We loved this place and are already talking...
Read moreUpdate: Been back and pretty disappointed. Service was mediocre, my "blackened chicken" only came with a half chicken breast (also who buries the meat it under a pile of cabbage), ordered an espresso because they don't do coffee which is fine but if you are going to do that you might want to make sure the staff know how to make basic drinks, the espresso came in a small coffee cup filled up... which is not how any of this is supposed to be. Heard from a few other people that it has gone down hill, this confirms it - probably won't be back as there are many other restaurants to try.
This is only my second time here and it really should make it into my rotation more. The pork bites were amazing, would eat as an man course, just keep them coming, the corn fritters were good too. Man course twas the beef dish a braised beef that was very similar to a brisket with mashed potatoes and a popover/yorkie which was very good as well. Great location and...
