Service is terrible. You order & pay first then food comes out. My friend and I ordered a lot of food and tipped 20% each. You'd think they would treat you well after you've tipped them well. If I knew how bad service would be I wouldn't even tip. I went to eat with my friend and her two children. My friend orders chicken wings and asks for them to be cooked very well done almost drier rather than moist, just a texture preference thing. The male employee replied with a condescending comment, "they are deep fried so of course they will be well done." Then my friends oldest daughter asks for garlic chili and sweet chili sauce for the green onion cake. The female server replies with "there's no sauce that comes with that dish" as if she felt she needed to educate her. Keep in mind my friend and her kids are mix black and white. I am south east Asian but dont look like it. This type of green onion cake is not a traditional vietnamese dish, it's created in edmonton and many people often eat it with garlic chili or sweet chili sauce. She wasn't needing education on what southeast Asians typically eat it with, a sauce is a preference and should be given when asked. The garlic chilli was for me and they gave a really small amount, fair, not everyone uses a lot & nobody likes waste. But after I finished the tiny garlic chilli I asked for more and to please bring a lot more. The female server came back with the same 1 tiny sauce dish, enough for 1-2 piece of green onion cake so I asked can I get 2 more of those? And she brought 1 more only. They forgot to bring out the bean sprouts, basil, and lemon for my friends pho. Understandable, we all forget things at time. But when I asked for them for it they brought out the tiniest portion, with only 3 basil leaves. Very cheap. As we were about to leave, my friends oldest daughter had gotten up and was waiting for us to get up. She was pressed against the table facing us, with literally one leg in the booth still. There was a lot of space behind her, a good 2 meters. The server was passing behind her with some food to bring to another table. Again there was 2 meters of space behind her, shes skinny and the server is skinny. The server says to her in a rude tone, "excuse me!" As if she was in the way. She clearly had a lot of space to do her job safely and anyone with eyes could see this. I feel like she was purposely being mean because she was upset because she knew were we upset & she probably heard us talking about how disappointed we were. Most restuarant upon hearing that would usually try to make up for it or at least apologize and try to find out why their customers are unhappy. Both my friend and I had asked for our receipts and were only given the debit/card receipt and not the full receipts. My friend went up to ask for hers and after noticed that their is no business name on the receipt. She and I were using this opportunity to discuss business plans and need receipts for write offs. As we were walking out of the restuarant, I was explaining to her that it might be OK because there is an address on the receipt and it should be connected to the business. While we are discussing this I can see the female employee who was rude the entire time looking over at us trying to listen in. She probably thought we were saying something negative because we clearly were not happy. My friend and I look over and she's glaring us down. How can someone be mad at us for being rude to us? Also, while we were eating we could see other tables were clearly upset by their poor service as well. We were a table of 4. And the only other people in the restuarants were 2 tables of 2. They were clearly upset because their food was taking too long. The food was alright. Some dishes were good. Others was just ok. Chicken wings were too salty. I've been to the other Co do hue and enjoyed it and brought my friend and her kids to try it as they love vietnamese food. I was so embarrassed with how they were treated. I will...
Read moreWhen your favorite Pho place starts opening up more chains, you go to compare on how they go against their OG shop, right?
Resembling more of their West side location, acting more as an express/takeout style concept, where you order and pay at the counter and gather all your utensils and condiments off to the side while you seat yourself. Surprisingly a lot more spacious than what you'd expect walking through the narrow entryway. Though this space isn't as welcoming as the OG spot, and also not as well kept. (Few tables were still in need of being wiped up and cleaned off.) All in all, they were quick to finish my orders and nothing was missing. Wouldn't come to this location to sit down to eat though.
Crispy Spicy Chicken Wings - ($9.95) - SO, SO GOOD. Very generous portion and came straight out of the deep fryer, chicken was super crispy and the pepper and spice mix really had you craving for more. Totally kicking myself for not trying this sooner. This is a must!
Grilled Beef Salad Rolls ($8.25) - I've tried all three combos of proteins, and honestly the grilled beef is my ultimate favorite. They marinate the beef and proceed to grill it before wrapping it up. The grill with the marinade makes for a beautiful char which was harmony along with the sweet hoisin sauce they have on the side.
Wor Wonton Soup - ($12.95) - Subbed with their beef soup which ended up being the more flavorful choice, this was a light addition and the wontons were filled with plenty of meat fillings. My one con to this dish was the imitation crab meat that didn't need to be there. With shredded chicken and fresh whole shrimp, the slices of imitation crab meat just looked and tasted...
Read moreWe adore this kind of food and this spot. Whenever we want a hot bowl of pho this is the place we immediately think of and go to. Consistently great service, efficient service, and quality of food. The bean sprouts are always crispy! And even if something is labelled as spicy the staff are really accommodating and can usually not add the spices but still give you the same great dish. The crispy chicken wings $15.95 is a solid example of this. I love them spicy but the kids prefer them not spicy and they are still really tasty without. We are also big fans of the appetizers- you can’t go wrong with an order of green onion cakes, spring rolls, or salad rolls. Most recently we ordered the seafood wor wonton soup $19.95 and it was so filling with so much seafood and veggies. We have also quite enjoyed the beef noodle soup pho which is a nice not spicy option. Personally I love a little heat so I prefer to order Hue’s Spicy Beef & Pork Noodle Soup $16.75 Top notch though I love to order the Vermicelli bowls - the 3 Color (Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls) $ 18.95 is one of our favourites. Along with the 4 color (Grilled pork, spring rolls, shrimp on sugarcane & pork patty) $19.95. Can’t forget to mention my favourite beverage to order every time is a Vietnamese coffee- iced or hot both are delightful. This space is a little smaller- not the best for a big group, but we’ve always had luck finding seating. Plenty of...
