The owner here is a nutcase do yourself a favor & avoid at all costs!!
Started ordering from this place a little while ago and at first the pizza was really good had no problem till a couple weeks ago I ordered a Large Donair pizza from them, Owner brought the pizza and when I went to pay told me the debit machine he had in is hands was dead but gave me the pizza anyways and told me when "He'd" get back to the restaurant he would call me to take care of it over the phone Wich even though it was on him for bringing a none functional debit machine I agreed to that, Guy never called that day, then 2 days later messages me over instagram asking for my phone number because he had misplaced it, again unprofessional on Is part & I give him my phone number and tell him to contact me after 6pm after work, he calls me while I was waiting for the buss asking for my credit card info but I only have a debit card Wich is what I normally pay with at the door so I couldn't give him the security code again I shouldn't even be giving this information out to a business over the phone! So he tells me I'll pass by your place in about 20min with the debit machine to collect the money Wich I was pretty low on money at this point after paying bills but I agreed, Guy never showed again.... Now over a month after, I had my brother down from Calgary for a visit we wanted pizza and he has a car so I was like let's get pizza from here so we drove there and got 2 medium pizza & two orders of wings. When we got home and opened our pizza's they were over cooked making the cheese hard, so my brother called sense he's the one that payed and talked with the owner Wich he agreed to deliver two new ones, when he arrived he called my brother's phone asking if I was there to pay for that Donair Pizza from over a month ago & I said of course not, then the guy was being super rude with my brother at the door and didn't want to give him the two pizzas at first but eventually did then said Now I see why he didn't order this time because he didn't want to pay is bill....ummm no I didn't order delivery this time because we were out driving already and he's got a car Wich I don't. Anyways this guy is a complete goof & won't be ordering from here anymore because he was too lazy to actually come back with a working debit machine after I gave him 3 chances to do so and also too unprofessional to just admit that it was is mistake and just be like sorry about that it's on us this time, like it's not my fault you can't make sure your craps working before coming to my door.
And btw No I did not steal your soap dispenser from your nonexistent bathroom from your store that you Seem to like to accused other people of stealing when they leave you a negative review Wich is...
Read moreSaw this new Pizza joint open up a couple weeks ago and have been wanting to try it. Ordered the special deal for 3 medium pizzas, got House special, meat beast (with cilantro), tandoori chicken, Greek, and Caesar salads, salt and pepper, and tandoori wings; and added on jalapeno poppers.
The chicken wings were large and quite meaty, cooked exactly how one should cook chicken wings. Most places go with the tiny wings and give you a dozen, or go with the large ones and go by the pound. This place uses the large wings and gives you the right count! Will definitely be ordering wings here next time I do a wing only night during the game.
Most other places use as thinly sliced pieces of meat throughout, hometown uses giant thick pieces and generously spreads them about like a pizza should be. Normally I don't like crust (unless it's stuffed) but their dough/crust was a light, fluffy, and just the right amount of crisp, almost like a Chicago style deep-dish. The specialty options were definitely different from your usual big box stores and had a unique twist on their own specialties.
Both salads used very very fresh vegetables, usually when you go to a pizza joint you tend to get wilted or soggy leaves, HT didn't make the salad until I got there to pick it up to ensure it was fresh. This made it last longer and fresher for when I got home.
Staff were friendly and appeared to be proud of their work.
While this review is based on the food, quality, and service itself, I fear this restaurant may get drowned out amongst other similar pizza establishments nearby. Would really like to see some more unique offerings, for example, Versato's in the north side is the only one in the city to offer "monster thick" pizza's. Would be interesting to see something similar and/or unique to them added...
Read moreHometown Pizza is definitely a place worth visiting if you're in the mood for some delicious pizza. From the moment I called to place my order, I was met with exceptional customer service. Although they were a bit hard to hear, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The delivery fee was a bit steep at $7 for a 7Km distance, but considering today's gas prices, it was reasonable.
The estimated delivery time was 50 minutes, but to my pleasant surprise, my order arrived in about 40 minutes. The delivery driver was one of the best I've had, asking about my day and how I was doing. This was a nice change from the usual rushed and impersonal delivery service that I've experienced from other places.
I ordered their Hometown Hungry Man pizza and Honey Garlic wings. The pizza was fully cooked and not doughy, which was a relief as I've seen complaints about this issue from other customers. The pizza had a good balance of toppings and was delicious. The wings had a great flavor, were sticky as I expected, and were evenly coated. However, they were a bit tough and dry, which may have been due to overcooking.
Despite the minor issue with the wings, everything arrived hot and fresh. The pricing was also cheaper than I anticipated, making this a great value for the quality of food and service provided. Overall, I would definitely recommend Hometown Pizza to anyone looking for delicious pizza and excellent customer service. While I enjoyed the wings, I would recommend sticking...
