If I could give zero stars, I would. My daughters and I have just walked out of this restaurant at 9pm on Saturday 20th Sept 2025, having arrived at 7pm without food. First, there's no host. We had to walk to the counter to ask if it was okay to sit ourselves. We were told the booths were reserved for parties of 5 persons or more and directed to sit anywhere else. That was fine. Second, it was another 10 mins before anyone came to take our orders. Eventually, this lovely young lady asks if we've been served, we responded in the negative. She advised that the sooner we order, the sooner our food would come since the kitchen was busy. Brought us menus and we promptly placed our orders. The place was rather cold for a fall day, I ordered chai. One hour later, we hadn't been given any water, the chai hadn't been served and more disturbing we started noticing that other people who had come in after us were being served. We waited another 15 mins (on the recommendation of one of my girls) before going back to the counter to inquire into our food. The person we asked appeared to not know anything but asked who had taken our orders, and we pointed her out. Another half hour went by. 2 additional groups that had come in an hour after us were served. This was our queue to leave. We registered our dissatisfaction with 2 waitresses. They apologised profusely, going back and forth. On my part, I watched the kitchen door, hopeful each time the door opened that our food was making an appearance finally. As I waited for my daughters to returned from the bathroom, our waitress approached me, apologising some more and nearly in tears. It turned out the boss was in the kitchen haranguing her and throwing accusations at her - instead of getting our food ready!

Well, thank God for Denny's because we got some sustenance less than 20 mins later. Not what we had wanted when we drove all the way from Calgary straight to this so called VIP authentic East African restaurant. I certainly...

WORST SERVICE EVER! On two different occasions!! Please take your money elsewhere! One of the waiters was so rude on my first ever visit. Unfortunately, after waiting for an hour for takeaway food, they failed to put other items in the package!!! We only discovered after we had arrived home.Horrible just horrible! On calling them over the missing orders , the waiter was extremely rude and never apologized. After driving back to pick up the food they kept on saying that they packed the food in the bag fortunately we had taken pictures of the order before driving back. On the second occasion, I made an order for take out and came back over an hour later for pick up! Only for them to tell me the food is not ready yet! More waiting time. I requested them to give me some part of the order (snacks that the waiter had told me was ready). Enjoy the snack in my car as I wait for the main meal which wasn’t ready yet! To my utter shock! the manager said I came out of the kitchen very upset while saying I was being problematic over asking for my part of my order(snacks) that I had paid for😒 He went ahead and asked me “DO YOU THINK THIS IS YOUR PERSONAL RESTAURANT?” while shouting and pointing fingers at me in front of other customers! Just awful! As someone who immensely enjoys exploring different restaurants around the city. Only to be treated like this at an East African Restaurant while trying to chase after authentic Swahili food!!! I feel so disappointed!!! You...

Visited this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We were a party of 5, so we ordered a platter to share. The food was good! However the service was really poor. It was a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was busy. Our server let us know that it will be a 45 mins wait and that they were understaffed. We understood and decided to stay for the food. The server kind of seemed disappointed that we were staying. Her attitude was as if we were bothering her. When our platter arrived, we weren’t given any plates. So we had to wait for the server to come back to our table with plates, and when she returned, she only brought 2 plates (we were 5 people).. so she had to leave and return again. When she took our order, she didn’t write anything down and tried to memorize our order.. she forgot a side order and then switched something on our platter without consulting with us first. The male bathroom, near the front entrance, looked like a night club bathroom that hasn’t been cleaned in 2 nights. There was urine all over the floors. All of the toilets were overflowing with urine and weren’t flushing. It was disgusting. My husband felt so uncomfortable. Our intention for visiting this restaurant was to support a black owned business and celebrate our grandmothers birthday. Unfortunately we will not be returning because of how bad the service and cleanliness was. This shouldn’t be acceptable for any business, and it’s unfortunate that it had to be a black...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely amazing experience! I visited Karibu Kilimanjaro for the first time and was blown away by the authentic Swahili cuisine. The flavours were rich, unique, and deeply comforting — every bite felt like a warm hug from East Africa. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, explaining the dishes and making me feel right at home. You can truly feel the love and culture in every detail — from the food to the music to the atmosphere. Highly recommend trying the samaki, pilau, and chapati — so delicious! I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu. If you’ve never tried Swahili food before, this is the perfect place to fall in love with it. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Kilimanjaro VIP in Edmonton! This East African restaurant is a hidden gem. The highlight of my meal was definitely the Babalowa Plate—it’s bursting with flavors and truly a must-try! The coconut beans and rice are to die for, so creamy and perfectly seasoned. On top of the incredible food, the owner is super kind and welcoming, making the whole dining experience even more special. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of their delicious menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic East African cuisine!
