I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought about taking one star off because their online menu doesn't have pictures or descriptions (I'm not sure about their in person menu) so you're not sure what you're getting, but we ordered four dishes between four people and every one of them was a winner, so I figure you can't go wrong. We also got some spring rolls, which I initially thought were a little expensive, but oh no. Everybody needs to try them, they are delightful in every possible way. For one thing they're huge so they can actually fit strips of carrot and other veggies in there, and they just taste so good that we never even bothered trying the sauce that was provided, they were good on their own. Go try a spring roll, if you haven't yet (but you only need one per person).
The portions were quite large, we were all full up and the leftovers are just as tasty the next day. I'm sure they'll update their online menu when they get to it, it is a small business after all, and they can only do so much. Overall, very pleased with our experience! It's out of the way for us, but we will most definitely be making...
Read moreHands down the best Filipino restaurant in Edmonton. Other places have a very "factory" type taste to their dishes as they're mass produced from chains. Kusina Filipino brings you food that is not only delicious, but generations old recipes founded in love, passed down by the owner's mother. This take-out only venue is the friendliest family owned spot that places quality ingredients as a priority and you can taste how fresh and "clean" the dishes are. For example, at other local Filipino shops/restaurants the Dinuguan (pork blood stew) has almost a "muddy" taste, whereas Kusina Filipino's Dinuguan tastes smooth without the "earthy" taste - which speaks volumes on how good this restaurant is. Honestly, stop wasting your time reading this review and get your behind over to...
Read moreI came in on a Sunday about half an hour before they closed. Told them I live all the way down the opposite side of the City but wanted to try their food and the Kuyas (failed to get their names) were so happy about it they gave me generous servings of what I ordered. The caldereta, pancit and turon were sooo yummy and they gave me so much extras that the 2 item combo and turon lasted me for 3 meals! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because the lechon paksiw was too sweet and fatty for my taste (some people might like that tho so dont write uit off!) Thank you again Kuyas - I will definitely be back even if it takes me 40 mins to...
