I met up with a couple of friends at Loft Thai for dinner recently. None of us have been there before, but we heard it was very good and that it's quite small inside, so we made reservations. The restaurant has 6 tables inside and was very clean and tidy. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and offered up some suggestions for dishes to try.
We started off with some spring rolls, which were quite delicious and perfectly cooked (there were 5 spring rolls in total). Two of us ordered the Pad Thai and the other ordered the Chicken Cashew Nut. We all enjoyed our meals, but also commented that it wasn't anything special. I know I've had better Pad Thai elsewhere, but this was still very delicious.
I'd definitely return again to try some of their other dishes, like either the Thai Green Curry or the Thai Red Curry with their coconut rice, as well as the Zap wings which also sounded...

Had high hopes after seeing the good ratings. Was expecting some high quality Thai food. The staff were polite but didn’t check on me after the food was served - no napkins or water refills. The coconut rice was far too sweet to my taste - I want it to taste as if real coconut has been added, not some sort of sugar coconut flavored syrup. The red curry wasn’t spicy and had a few millimeters of some kind of fat or oil floating on the top. Very greasy - not a nice mouth feel. Ended up feeling sick from the grease. Taste was just okay. Half way through eating noticed a dark hair in my curry. Decided it didn’t seem like a place to bother complaining (which I see I was right based off another review). Paid and left. For the quality I’d have been better off at Thai Express. I’ll be sticking to Siam and Symphay from now on...

My boyfriend and I went in for dinner and were blown away! This is different than any Thai food I've had before in Edmonton. The cuisine LOFT is aiming for, as described by one of the owners is, "Asian food with a western spin". They use influences from Italian cuisine, like pasta curries and pesto-coated bread, to accompany traditional Thai soups and curries. We ordered a salad and one seafood soup dish which were promptly polished off, plates scooped clean. We also had the coconut rice which was hands down the best I've tried.
Their food is really tasty, brimming with lemongrass and galangal spices, and not overly sweet (common problem I find with Thai food). It appeared that they use fresh ingredients for everything. I'm excited about this place and...
