Osmow's Shawarma — Restaurant in Edmonton

Delicious! I stumbled in for the first time on a late lunch and got the chance to chat with the staff before ordering. They were helpful in introducing me to their menu. I ended up ordering a chicken shawarma platter with rice, garlic and tahini sauces, the medium hot sauce, a fattoush salad, and guava juice.

The food came out fast (they knew I was hungry). Chicken was well- seasoned and worked with the plump rice. At medium spice level, the heat plus garlic sauce was an excellent combination. The tahini takes the backseat in the flavor so if that's your preference perhaps go lighter on the other sauces.

What really astounded me was the salad. Before ordering, I was told about the size of the meal and had already asked for a bag. With such a heavy meal I figured I couldn't finish the whole thing in one go. That's where the salad came in: not only is it fresh, the sauce was a good mix of savoury and tart. It was a great start to the meal but I quickly found myself alternating between main and salad, using the freshness to counter the heavy and fatty meat and rice.

I ended up eating the whole thing before leaving the restaurant. The guava juice was really sweet (if you're into sweeter juices). In total it cost me just under $19 but if you're a well-paced person this is easily a meal and a half. Great service, delicious food, and definitely...

Food is fine, service is terrible. Placed order online for 3 shawarmas on the rocks and came at the indicated time to pickup and had to wait. Continuously checked with staff on the status of my order and was told "We're busy and will get to it." In one instance, I asked for an update and was told "I don't know the status of your order because I'm only doing the Restaurant orders." This would explain why people walking in off the street would place their order, wait 15-20min, pickup their food and leave. Why the staff is not processing all orders (restaurant and online) in the order it was placed is beyond me! We ended up waiting an hour and 10 minutes for our food, as the DoorDash app would just refresh the pickup time to a later and later time. Made a complaint to the staff and the only explanation they could muster was "we're very busy" and "sorry", but they could not answer why an order placed online required any wait...that's the purpose of online ordering, to ELIMINATE waiting! Asked to speak to the manager, but they were not in. Asked what hours this person would be here and staff indicated "They come when they want..." Overall, VERY disappointed that glorified "fast food" took longer than an average sit-down restaurant would have taken. Will not be...

This rating is based on my most recent visit to this store; I'm a regular customer and have never experienced any problems there. On my previous visit, though, I had requested a combo of a wrap with fries and a pop.but the girl heard me say "rice," I was just making sure I got everything, so I checked to make sure I got fries (the box wasn't even full),not rice. I asked them if they could give me fries instead of rice, since I didn't want the rice. However, the girl chose to call a different team member from the back rather than issue a refund. I attempted to explain that it might have gotten on to one side of the box and we didn't eat anything we just got our order we haven't even left the store. But guess what, the girl who came from the back didn't know the complete situation and said, "you have eaten it already." They looked at each other and laughed.. so just they should know that you’re never do that to a customer unless you know everything. I ended up leaving the store without my order and refund.
