P.f Chang's Southside, I decided to bring my family for Valentine's Day, a few people asked me if I have visited this restaurant. I finally decided to try it out. The place was decorated nicely for that special day and as expected the tables were pretty well all filled. The restaurant looked very nice and the servers were very polite when they seated us. We were given a few minutes to go over the menu so I decided to ask our server what she would recommend and she said we have to try the Korean bulgogi steak, so we ordered it along with Chang's spicy chicken, Singapore Street noodles with a light curry sauce and Buddha feast vegetables. The music was light and the atmosphere was nice, Even though it was a little noisy as you can while imagine being this busy but we totally understood looking forward to having a nice evening.
Our meal came to our table within a reasonable time and the meal actually looked very nice. Once we served all four choices to each other we decided to try our meal. The first thing we tried was the Singapore street noodles with the light curry sauce with vegetables, shrimp and chicken, there was no curry sauce nor could I taste any curry which was a shame as I was looking forward to this as I love curry, my wife was also very disappointed. We then tried Chang's spicy chicken, it was good but The sauce was a bit bland. Next we decided to try the Buddha feast vegetables with light seasoning, the veg tasted like it was boiled then put onto a plate with no seasoning and some stems were not even removed from some of the vegetables, very unfortunate. Last but not least was the Korean bulgogi steak with glaze, the steak was a bit overcooked and dry and I did not taste any glaze nor did I see any. The potatoes and onions that came with the steak was probably the only part of the whole meal that was seasoned nicely. Our server came to us and asked how the food was and unfortunately I had to tell them the truth that I was not happy. The manager came over and asked what the problem was so, I explained to him about the meal we just ate and how we were very disappointed. He asked us about each part of the meal and so we told him honestly our thoughts politely and that we weren't trying to get a free meal we just expected more care to be taken in seasoning and preparation of our meal. He was concerned about our reaction and offered a free dessert but we turned it down but he insisted anyways and had them bring us a cheesecake. Unfortunately it was served on a hot plate and it tasted like it was a pre-bought frozen cheesecake and the graham crumb bottom was soggy.
I feel we might have come down on the wrong night as they were very busy and may have rushed our meal or had an inexperienced member preparing the items, either way all food needs to be consistent When leaving the kitchen. Whether it be the garnish, the temperature, the quality and the seasoning of the food that all has to be constant this way the customer gets the same experience no matter what day they come.
I will say one thing, all the ingredients that was in our food were fresh and vibrant looking. Had the meal been properly seasoned there would have been no issues other than the steak a little dry and stems left on some vegetables.
I will say all the staff were very polite and the restaurant was very pleasant inside a note and I am hoping that they are able to correct some of their shortcomings with consistency of the food. The price point for what we recieved (smaller portions than we expected for the price and lack of proper seasoning and cooking techniques on most of our items) Left us very disappointed in our visit.
I give this place a 6/10 on the...
Read moreHubby and I had moved away to Calgary about 5 years ago and since moved back, we decided to drive around our old stomping grounds and wanted to stop somewhere to have lunch, I noticed P.f Chang's and wanted to try something new so we stopped in there. We were seated promptly and had our drinks served immediately.. our Server Taylor was a gem! She told us the story of pf chang's and that it was a popular American restaurant (we have seen this place mentioned in movies and on TV shows), she was super friendly and attentive. Hubby has Celiac so she let's us know what items where gluten free and that all the sauces were made in house, not bottled and shipped. she suggested we try the chicken lettuce Wraps and the Mongolian beef bowl, which were both gluten free.. the lettuce Wraps were incredible!!! Sooooo much flavor! Hubby said it's a good thing we lived a half hour away because we would be eating there all the time! I ordered sweet and sour chicken with noodles and that was also very tasty as well! The manager stopped by to see how everything was and we told him we loved it, I asked how the sushi was and he said he would make one up for me, a special one that was on the house for me to try! I was blown away, he brought it to me just after our mains were brought out.. on a plate with a glass dome over it that was full of smoke. I have never had anything like it! It was a cross between a California roll and a spicy shrimp dynamite roll! The flavors were out of this world! A little on the spicy side, I'm not much of a spicy food lover, but this was the exception! I just wish my Celiac husband was able to try it because I know he would of been over the moon with it! It wasn't just one piece it was a whole order! I opted to eat that and took my sweet and sour chicken home for my lunch tomorrow, our server packaged up my food for us, side table.. I can't say enough about this place! Definitely worth the trip and we will definitely be back and will be bringing my sister in law and brother in law with us.. highly recommend this gem of a restaurant! Amazing food, service and atmosphere! If I could give 10 starts i would! Well wait! I can!!! 💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫 i took a picture of the sushi, but didn't take one of the stuff we ordered we...
Read moreMe and a friend were out to see the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, so we ended up at Windemere VIP theater as the south Edmonton common show times didn’t work for us. After finishing the movie we went over to PF Changs for dinner, we arrived about 45 minutes before they closed so we made sure to ask what time their kitchen closed, we were told 10PM (45 minutes away), so we stayed. I am always leery of going into a place so close to their closing time, however they seated 2 other tables after we arrived and 1 standing in line ahead of us.
PF changs is a nice-looking restaurant, more so on the outside than inside, the inside is a little underwhelming. Here’s the thing, they serve Chinese food and its overpriced, not to say its not good but its not good enough for the price. Theres too many awesome Chinese restaurants that serve more food at lower prices. Also Chinese food is typically a order a bunch of stuff and everyone shares kind of meal, however here its you order your thing and get your own plate and its not enough or even intended to be shared
I have two major problems with their restaurant, and it’s summed up by two dishes. Their Gyoza/handmade pork dumplings were $17???? For just 6??? 17$ for 6 of them, unacceptable. Their Orange chicken is $24 and comes with a side of plain rice, if you want fried rice that’s an ADDITIONAL $6. That’s $6 extra for you to just fry the rice I already paid for and add a bit of vegetables, no meat. So you’re at $30 for a small bowl of fried rice and a few pieces of orange chicken, 2 mains with fried rice are $60 and then add 6 gyoza and you are at $77 without drinks. I’m sorry but there’s too many places in Edmonton where $80 of Chinese food the same if not better quality but with a much larger quantity. Also I prefer the family style of other places when it comes to Chinese food, I like ordering 4 or 5 different things and having leftovers for lunch the next day. I will say staff were all great, very friendly even though it was so close to closing time...
