Nice and light atmosphere with lots of natural lighting. Our server was absolutely fantastic (Caitlin) but when we walked in we were greeted by 3 different people who all said “we will be right with you”. We started with the chicken noodle soup (tasted like how your grandma would make) with great flavour in every bite and cute little noddles. Unfortunately i did not get a photo. The Chicken club is good. The seasoning on the chicken is spot on and the grilling of the breast added another dimension of flavour. I think this sandwich could have been served with arugula or fried onions as the fresh ingredients seemed like they didn’t blend with the sandwich. The onion dip is flavourful and was a nice addition to the fries. The meatball sub has a nice balance of pork and beef meat with a zesty marinara sauce. It was hard to eat but the flavour is exactly what you would expect. The strawberry rhubarb crumble was delicious. The oatmeal was sweetened and the fruit mixture was sweet but not overpowering. The ice cream cuts the sweetness well for a well-balanced bite of dessert. Four stars because nothing was an absolute wow but I would definitely come back to try the other...
Read moreWent to Pal's with my brothers and a friend of theirs for my birthday. We all ordered different sandwiches so I'm going to try to sum up the overall sandwich experience.
I had the hoagie, because I just had a craving. The hoagie was fine. The bread good. The fries could have been much better. Pal's does this homemade fries thing that a lot of people do where they turn out golden brown but still somehow don't have the crispness that you want in a french fry.
One brother had the fish sandwich, said it was crispy and tasty. My other brother had the reuben and wasn't happy with its execution. Whenever he took a bite, instead of being able to bite through the corned beef, the whole slice would come out. To me, that says not the best corned beef goes into the sandwich.
Our friend ordered poutine with his cuban sandwich. The poutine didn't come out very warm, apparently.
What makes this disappointing for me is the cost of our meals. We each paid $50.00 for sandwiches, a couple beverages and a tip. FIFTY DOLLARS for heaven's sake. And in my opinion for that amount of money for a lunchtime meal, the sandwiches could be a little better...
Read moreI recently visited Pals Sandwiches in Edmonton, drawn in by the lovely and vibrant atmosphere of the area. The setting is fantastic, with a lively ambiance that makes you want to linger and enjoy the day. The service at Pals was friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated.
Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the beef dip, and while I admired their dedication to quality by making their own bread, the sandwich itself was just okay. The beef was unseasoned, which made it rather bland, and the au jus was too thick, more like a gravy than the flavorful dipping sauce I was hoping for. The cheese on top didn't melt properly, just sort of sitting there and falling off. Additionally, the bread was a bit too much—thick and heavy—so it dominated every bite, overpowering the rest of the sandwich.
Despite these issues, you can tell that Pals Sandwiches really cares about quality, which is commendable. With a few tweaks, I think they could turn an average meal into something...
