Visiting Edmonton for weekend. Recommended this store while at the Edmonton Expo because they sell vintage toys and collectibles.
Tons of loose Gi Joe's for sale with prices all over the place (some cheap, some fair and some overpriced). But everything had a price tag. The guy said none of the price tags are accurate and he needs to check them first, as stuff could cost more. Out of the 10-12 bins, I pull about 10 figures I'm interested in. I ask him where is he getting prices, says ebay sold listings. Some figures he doesn't know the name, asks me who they are so he can check ebay to price (I might as well work there). Some items he can't find a price on ebay so therefore he can't sell the item. Comes back with a list and everything is 50-100% higher than the original price. I'm sure he took the highest sold price on ebay to price the items, not averages.
It was such a waste of time, I told him to stop telling me prices and I left.
If I wanted to purchase at ebay prices I would just shop on ebay. If you want to sell for ebay prices, then sell your stuff on ebay (but you will have to pay ebay fees).
I guess that's the reason they're sitting on so much inventory.
Fun place to walk into, very crowded, lots of dust, and everything must be checked on ebay before...
Read moreWhyte Knight is an oddity amongst many odd stores of Whyte ave already. They have a wide selection of items that mainly appeal to collectors and gamers. However, despite their large array of items the store lacks focus. It has no central theme that some people find frustrating. The store is rather cluttered and can be compared to that of a hoarder's home. It takes a true collector to want to dig through the many treasures within this store. As for their pricing, well, let's just say it can range from fair to over priced. Every once in awhile you can find some items that are fairly priced. However, their are some store items that have been sitting on the shelves for months, even years, because of the high pricing. The customer service is mediocre. Many of the employees are somewhat socially awkward with their questions, comments, or stares. But, they can be friendly at times or just very quiet. All in all this store is "meh." It is messy, smelly, weird, yet awesome all at...
Read morebrought collectable enthusiast from out of town to browse the shop as we had purchased many gifts for him over the years from this store. We were met by a roped barricade and rudely asked what we wanted to buy and told that people who are grousing are not normally allowed in ...we were read the riot act about staying away from other people while in the store.. I left immediately as members of my party followed suit. in the middle of covid restrictions we are trying to buy locally and support businesses on whyte ave but if this is how we will be treated go pound sand. I will buy from Amazon or out if town. I have been to third world nation's who suffer real crisis and their business people are professional. This experience turned me off...
