My son and I had much anticipated our visit on there tuesday night, all you can eat fish. I learned within the first bite of my fish that whatever one they had served me, I did not like. I don't know if we showed up on an off night, but I'm really used to eating at different place in North Edmonton that has a lighter batter and flakey non greasy fish. However, Pans is much much closer, and it was nowhere near as good as the other place. My fish was very overcooked. It was not light and flaky. It was greasy and heavy, I've never had fish feel dry in my mouth either, and this was. I couldn't even finish my original fish, Let alone try more. My batter was not light and crispy. It was very heavy with the grease, and it was burnt in a couple of spots. My son did not enjoy his either. However, he did eat it and asked to try the other selection of fish. I tasted a tiny tiny bit and it had a strange flavor for Pollock that I was not a fan of. Which is weird because I thought Pollock was supposed to be mild. I did enjoy their gravy it was yummy, highlight of my meal. I don't know If it was homemade, but it absolutely tasted homemade, and it was delicious. I would have taken a container of that home. My son and I both enjoyed the french fries. The coleslaw was okay, I would eat it again. I prefer the place that I go to, in the North End's tartar sauce better. Pans wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. It's nothing that I would want to go back for. Our server was very sweet and if I ever went back to that restaurant again, it would not be because of the fish, that's for sure, I would go back because of the great service. There's a couple of burgers on the menu that I would much rather try...
Read moreIf you were taking your best girl out to propose and give her a ring, this wouldn't be the place, but if you want a really tasty fish and chip dish, at a reasonable price and served by friendly courteous people, you will not be disappointed. I even asked a customer coming out the door before I walked in, if this was a good place to eat, and he replied, "This has been our favorite Fish & Chip place for over a year now!" That was good enough for me to go in and try it out. The service was great and the lady was very nice (it seems like a family run operation) and the food was delicious, including the cold slaw (which I usually don't eat). Tartar sauce and two types of vinegar was on the table and it came with a lemon wedge as well. There was nothing fancy inside, but everything was clean (including the bathroom). It was a very satisfying meal and I know I will return the next time I have a Fish & Chip craving. I'll even have to drive across town to get there, but I was...
Read moreHave been here twice in the last few months for the Tuesday fish and chips. We had the pollock both times and it has been fantastic.
The pieces of fish are large and the batter crispy. One of the best battered fish we've tried.
Fries weren't anything extraordinary, but decent enough to compliment the tasty fish.
Haven't tried anything else because the fish is so good, but hope to soon!
Had the same lovely waitress both times. She seems to be very busy but kind and responsive nonetheless.
They have a nice selection for the kids menu. My 2 year had a grilled cheese and fries last time but wasn't a huge fan of the grilled cheese. He's been happy with the fries both times haha.
A cozy restaurant, calm atmosphere. Will be...
