After finishing work this afternoon, my dad, his friend, and I decided to eat at Pho Hoan Pasteur in Mill Woods. Everything seemed fine at first, but we quickly had issues with the service. A Filipino male server took our order, and we clearly asked for two separate bills: one for my dad and me, and one for my dad’s friend. Despite our clear instructions, the server seemed unfriendly, and his body language suggested he wasn’t happy to serve us.
When the food arrived, I ordered the pork chop rice with four spring rolls, and my dad got a small soup. The food was disappointing. The pork chop was extremely dry and hard to chew, as if it wasn’t cooked properly. The rice was also dry and lacked flavor.
The biggest issue came when we went to pay. I listed the five items we ordered to the cashier, but she ended up overcharging us my dad was charged over $50 for just a small soup, pork chop rice, and four spring rolls. The receptionist seemed confused, didn’t speak English well, and struggled to explain the charges. When I asked about the overcharge, she kept repeating that there was an “add-on” without explaining what it was.
The same server who took our order came over to ask what happened, but he was immediately told to answer a phone call. After that, he disappeared into the back of the kitchen and never returned. I asked the receptionist if I could speak to him, but she refused and said she was in charge. She was also wearing AirPods while working and did not act professionally or try to help us resolve the issue. She became aggressive, so I told her to keep the $50 and that I would be filing a complaint.
This experience left a bad impression. The service was rude, the food was subpar, and the billing was unclear and overpriced. I don’t recommend this location based on...
Read moreI had never been to this location before (the place by my work closed), so I called to order takeaway. The guy on the phone took my order and then gave me an order number (luckily, it was easy to remember, but don't forget it if you're going into the restaurant). When I arrived at the restaurant it was packed with tables everywhere and a bunch of people standing around (not really In line as there wasn't really anywhere to stand) some paying for their meals some ordering takeaway and others picking up takeaway. There was no sign of where we were supposed to stand for what. As I stood there, one lady in front of me was paying. The people behind the counter are still behind a plexi, and the girl I talked to had on a face mask and shield, so it was super hard to hear her over the noisy restaurant. 3 guys stood beside me one guy kept saying I'm so confused (unsure if they were waiting to be seated or what) then I told the girl behind the plexi my order number and she kept on repeating the order on their menu. I had no idea what my food number was on their menu, only the number the guy gave me on the phone. Finally, I figured out I was saying my order number, and she was repeating the menu number. They charge 50 cents on each order, one for takeout container and one for paper bag (they don't even ask if you want a bag they just charge you for it). The whole ordeal was very confusing. I paid and made my way out. The portion was small (not really complaining about that as I get it inflation), but it only took up 3/4 of the takeaway container, so it looked even less when I opened it. Overall the food was good so I'm giving a 4 star but I don't know if I'll go through the experience of going...
Read moreI recently visited Phở Hoan Pasteur in Millwoods for the first time, and overall, it was a positive experience. The restaurant was fully packed, which immediately gave off the impression that it’s a popular local spot — always a good sign.
I ordered a chicken rice and poached egg dish, which came with rice, vegetables, and some salad. The meal itself was simple but satisfying — not overly spicy or rich in strong flavors, which I actually appreciated. Sometimes, less is more. The chicken was tender, the egg was well-cooked, and the portion size was quite generous. At around $17–$18, it felt like a well-balanced meal with protein, carbohydrates, and greens, making it a great option for those looking for something filling and nutritious.
Even though I’m not a heavy meat eater, I enjoyed the combination of flavors. The sauces were light, and the meat didn’t have any overpowering taste, which worked well for my palate. It’s a place I’d definitely return to — especially when I want a healthy, home-style alternative to fast food.
The vibe was energetic and communal — the kind of environment that feels comfortable even if you’re dining alone. Being there on a weekend, the crowd added to the experience without making it overwhelming.
Overall, I’d recommend Phở Hoan Pasteur for a casual, clean, and satisfying meal, especially if you’re someone who prefers lighter flavors and balanced portions. It’s a great spot to bookmark for your...
