Wow, what a fun place to eat!! I love the theme and the decorations are neat. I very much enjoyed my pizza here. And that's not even to mention, while waiting for my food at this restaurant, I read a very inspiring article on Channel 2 KUTV news about a Salt Lake City police officer pushing a man all the way home in his electric wheelchair after the battery ran out. Wow!! Officer Weeks, you go, girl! Five stars for Officer Weeks!! Seriously, I bet his quads were burning after that one. In retrospect, it might have been easier to just load him up in the squad car and drive him home, but I respect his dedication to the cause. Kinda makes you wish you had friends in electric wheelchairs that broke down from time to time so you could also push them home when the battery runs out so you could ALSO feel like a champion, am I right?? But in all seriousness, though, they should really consider giving this man a key to the city. People these days would have you think the world is going down the tubes. Not so!! Thank you Officer Weeks for showing there is hope for this world after all. Oh, a quick pro tip for those who eat here: if you order pizza with meat as toppings, the toppings just come UNDER the cheese. Do NOT send it back angrily after a heated tirade about how the server is an idiot who "can't even do one damn thing right." Your little meat toppings are there, they're just hiding :-)

Been driving past this place for years and finally decided to stop in as I had my folks with me. Parking lot is small, holds about 12 to 15 spots but lots of street parking is available. Love the sign and paintings on the windows. Inside the walls are covered with retro record covers, signs, an intersection light and many other really cool and unique items. Just walk in as the sign says and find a table that is sanitized. My Dad ordered their Rueben Sanwich with spicy mustard and fries, my Mom got their Greek Omelette which came with homemade hasbrowns and toast, while I picked their Eggs Benedict which also came with hasbrowns. Server asked if I had been there before and I said I hadn't, so she let me taste test their Benedict sauce as it's a little bit different. Got a small cup of it and loved the taste. My Mom is GF, so she could not have their toast but the server said you can bring in your own GF bread and they will toast it for your meal next time. We had coffee and tea while we waited and the food was brought out within 10 minutes. It was all very tasty and my Dad said the spicy mustard helped clean out his sinuses! Looking forward to going back and trying more on their menu.

Route 99 Diner is a true throwback to the classic 1950s diner experience…bright red booths, retro décor, and a menu packed with comfort food favorites. The energy inside feels welcoming and nostalgic, the kind of place where families, students, and locals all gather for a hearty meal. On my last visit, I had a burger with lettuce, and they were able to accommodate my gluten-free diet without hesitation. That extra level of care stood out…the staff didn’t make it complicated, just handled it with a smile, and the end result was delicious. The burger was juicy and flavorful, with crisp lettuce and fresh toppings that made it feel lighter but still satisfying. The portions here are generous, and prices are very fair for the quality and portion size. Service is fast and personable, even when the diner gets busy during peak times. Whether you’re in the mood for pancakes, omelets, or a classic burger and fries, this spot consistently delivers. If you’re looking for an unfussy, authentic diner experience with staff that go the extra mile for dietary needs, Route 99 is an easy recommendation.

I'm only giving this 5 stars because I actually like the place.

The eggs benny was bad. Not ok, not decent, just bad. The hollandaise sauce was this off putting, sickly sweet, wrong coloured mess poured everywhere. Way too much, way too sweet and just not good at all. I know restaurants cant always match home cooking, but i've had packaged stuff that wasn't this bad. I know it cant be that difficult to make this because eggs benny is one of my favourite dishes and i've had it 50 other places and all were better than this. It's basically egg and butter, it cannot be and is not hard to make a good one. The sauce I had was awful. Easily the worst i've ever had.

The eggs were cooked fine, but the English muffin wasn't toasted / cooked at all?? maybe it was a bit but if it was I certainly couldn't tell. The ham was ok, but thin, like someone grabbed sandwich cut back bacon instead of the regular slightly thicker cut. Maybe that's a style choice, it honestly wasn't bad or good, just different.

The hash browns would have easily been the worst part if it weren't for the hollandaise. They tasted and felt like someone boiled hash browns till they were almost finished, then quickly threw them on a flat top to brown. the middle of each string was undercooked and a little springy, exactly like undercooked potato always is. The flavour was just bland potatoieness, lacking the crispy, salty bite you expect from diner hash browns.

The sausage was the best part of the meal, but was a little burnt. not bad though.

Honestly, I'm only giving this a 5 star because i've been here before and it was a 10/10 diner experience. But today, the meal was just not good. At all. I didn't order some complex, difficult to execute meal. I ordered a breakfast staple, and received a meal I'm sure the owner and those who served it wouldn't be proud of.

Full disclosure: I ordered through skip the dishes, the delivery took about 6 minutes to go from restaurant to where I'm at. That usually results in some slightly cold food. In my opinion, no amount of time under a heat lamp, or driving in a delivery bag would have produced the results I saw today. Mayyyybe you could give a break on the potatoes, but the sauce wasn't a cooking issue, it was a flavour and probably ingredient issue.

I hope that someone who has some say in this business sees this. Not because I want to rag on a businesses, but because I've had great expereinces here, and this was not at all one of them. Maybe next time i'll just steer away from the eggs benny, hash browns...

First time I've been there in ages and ages, and the very first time for the other 2 people I was with. It took us a while to make a choice from the nice, full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods. But eventually we settled on a Denver Omelette, a Farmer's Breakfast, and a sandwich (forgot which kind), plus coffee and water, and chocolate milkshakes to drink. The chocolate milkshakes are worth every penny - they're so tall, thick, and rich, with whipped cream on top!

I had the Denver Omelette - it was a full plateful, and just the right amount of food. It was delicious too! I especially liked the shredded potato style hash browns.

The Farmers Breakfast didn't seem like so much from the menu description, but it turned out to be practically two meals! A full plate of eggs, bacon, sausages, and hash browns, PLUS another stack of 3 pancakes, and I think toast as well! My bf ended up taking most of the first plate of food to go, as he was full after just eating the pancakes and toast. And as far as I know, the other person with us enjoyed their sandwich and coffee quite a bit.

Otherwise, the waitresses were polite and efficient with their time. We enjoyed the eclectic diner ambiance of red-backed booths, movie posters and old license plates on the walls, plus two screens showing old WWII army films. The set of traffic lights over the cash register, and a wing of a plane by the door, are nice quirky touches. I should mention there's also a digital jukebox by the door, and by the cash register there's a cabinet of pies and cakes that you could order to go.

This place is always busy - we were lucky enough to get the one remaining spot when we came! So that alone should tell how loved this place is by so many. I'd love to come here...
