In average it's an okay place to go. I'll debrief.
*Coffee quality: Coffee taste was Colombian, very identical flavour to my last visit to Medellin. *Coffee amount: For 30 cents extra I ordered the large coffee and the cups are huge! Compared to 1912 place, you get a lot of liquid here. *Food variety: the menu is small but they are good selections to pair with a coffee. The prices are also decent, although only 1 plate is below $10. *Desserts are very limited and in the open. I'm afraid that a lot of saliva droplets of sick people are landing on the pastries. *Coffee price: This is the reason to lower stars. In 2 popular coffee places in Whyte Ave, you still can get some coffees in the $4.5 - $4.75 mark. Lattes here are in the $6 dollars range. Is it the rent more expensive here that is further away from Whyte Ave? *Location don't match businesses around: across the street you can get the best food the money can buy in Whyte Ave and also affordable coffee and dessert. Another example is the gas station. You can get any type of hot drinks in their coffee bar, like Large French Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Lattes for less than $3
Overall, I will visit again but only for special ocassion, like school meeting or date but not for casual...
Read moreNew cute little coffee shop in a great location in the old Todd's Cleaners on 99th street. Serves mostly coffee, a few other hot beverages, and limited food options. Avocado toast and chai latte were both pretty good. This place was quite busy, with most tables occupied. Service was a bit slow, with about a ten minute wait for drinks and food. The biggest drawback was that the tables are very small and uncomfortable and would be non-usable for anyone that is tall or larger. My friend and I (both average-sized women) were sitting at what was meant to be a four-person picnic bench style table. The hard wooden benches were just wide enough for each of us to put our jackets and purses beside ourselves. We couldn't sit directly across from each other as to do that we'd need to intertwine our knees and legs together, so we needed to sit offset. Our food came on snack size plates, but the table still wasn't wide enough to hold our dishes if we sat directly across from each other. I'm not sure why they made these tables so much smaller than a standard table. It made me want to leave sooner as I was uncomfortable. Perhaps that was by design, so customers won't...
Read moreWelcome, to Old Strath ‘The Colombian’! So thrilled to have a good, local coffee shop in the neighbourhood. Service is fantastic, coffee is wonderful ( and ethically sourced ) And I look forward to trying some of the food. So far I can only tell ya about the chocolate zucchini loaf… WHICH WAS AWESOME! 🙂
Edit: I have now had croissants - oh my gosh, the Croissants! Seriously - get the Ham & Cheese (if you eat meat), get the Guava Jam croissant (if you don't eat meat) try the avo-toast (yes I'm a milennial) and the ginger cookies ( not sure what that relates to but just go get one)
Also, update - I want to celebrate the staff who seem to remember my name every time I come in. It's an extra step that makes a difference to me and I truly...
