I recently visited Great Indian Delicacy in Edmonton and, while the food was decent, I found the pricing extremely high compared to other local Indian restaurants.
For instance, 2 onion vadas were priced at $6.99 and a simple cup of tea cost $4.99 â which feels quite unreasonable given the standard market rates in the area. The atmosphere is fine, but the overall value for money just isnât there.
I hope the management reconsiders their pricing to make it more customer-friendly, as this would definitely encourage more repeat visits.
Hello, Thank you so much for your detailed response. I completely understand that being on White Avenue comes with higher rent and operational costs. However, I still feel that a normal tea shouldnât be overpriced solely based on the location.
At the time of ordering, we were not informed about the quantity or portion size of the chai. If that had been mentioned, we could have made a better choice. Similarly, for the onion vada â we requested 5 pieces (as we were 5 people), but it seems it was treated as 5 sets of 2. That confusion led to a much higher bill than expected.
Just to put it in perspective, we only had a few snacks and chai/coffee, and the total came to around $73 â which seems quite high for a light tea-time meal, not a main course. Iâm from BC and have visited several Indian restaurants there, but the pricing is generally more reasonable.
Iâm sharing this only so it helps you in fine-tuning the menu and improving customer experience â we genuinely want your restaurant to grow and succeed, as it truly has great potential. Thanks again for your kind response and...

I recently had the immense pleasure of dining at THE GREAT INDIAN DELICACY YEG at 10158 82 Ave NW, and I am absolutely blown away! This is, without a doubt, a shining gem in Edmonton's culinary scene.
My experience was nothing short of perfection, particularly with the two dishes I tried: the Kadhai Paneer and the Kerala Paratha.
The Kadhai Paneer was a revelation â rich, perfectly spiced, and with paneer that was incredibly fresh and tender. The bell peppers and aromatic spices truly sang, creating a symphony of flavors that was both comforting and exciting. It's clear that immense care goes into preparing this dish.
And then there's the Kerala Paratha... oh, the Kerala Paratha! Flaky, soft, and with just the right amount of crispness, it was the ideal companion to the Kadhai Paneer. Each tear of the paratha and scoop of the curry was pure bliss. It's authentic, delicious, and perfectly executed.
Beyond these incredible dishes, the overall experience was fantastic. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming. If you're looking for an authentic and unforgettable Indian meal in Edmonton, you must visit THE GREAT INDIAN DELICACY YEG. They have truly mastered the art of...
Read moreI recently ordered Kerala Porotta, Beef Roast, and Nadan Pazhampori from Great Indian Delicacy, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I opened the packaging, the aroma itself was enough to make my mouth water.
The Kerala Porotta was perfectionâthin, flaky, and wonderfully soft, not hard or chewy like you sometimes find elsewhere. It paired beautifully with the Beef Roast, which was cooked to absolute perfection. The beef was tender, flavorful, and rich in spices, capturing the essence of authentic Kerala cuisine.
The Nadan Pazhampori was the perfect finishing touchâa sweet and crispy treat that reminded me of homemade comfort food.
Overall, the meal was outstanding, and the quality exceeded my expectations. Great Indian Delicacy truly knows how to deliver a taste of Kerala. Highly...
