Came for my birthday dinner and decided to make it a little date night with my 3.5 year old daughter. I’ve always come to this location since I worked here several years ago. I’ve celebrated most birthdays here, got engaged here and have always enjoyed and appreciated each visit! Tonight we sat in the lounge because of the long wait time in the dinning room. No worries, I’m happy that minors are now welcome in the lounge and patio! We waited for a while for a server to come to our table, but there was also quite a few people coming in, so I understand the wait. I saw a server looking over at us every few minutes to see if we had been greeted yet (I’m assuming we weren’t in his section). Then he came over to us and greeted us, apologizing for the wait. He was super friendly and I wish he had served us. But just as he was about to take down our drink order, another server swooped in saying “I got this, thanks” while pushing her way in front of him handing us dinner menus and a colouring sheet. He looked quite discouraged and walked away. I felt badly for him! Our server was nice enough, but she was very busy with her other tables, didn't ask if we were celebrating anything, didn’t get my order right and forgot to bring my glass of wine. She was clearly very busy and since I was enjoying time with my daughter, I didn’t want to bug her and complain, that’s on me! The food was incredible as always! Thank you to the kitchen staff, you guys did a phenomenal job as always! My daughter loved her food too! Once my daughters dessert came, so did the bill. When our server dropped the bill off she said “no rush!” Unfortunately, the only time I noticed her checking in on us throughout the night was waiting to see if my card was on the table yet. And not a minute after I put my card out, she was right there with a machine. She was a very nice girl, but it was not the best service I’ve had here. The hostess’ we super kind and friendly start to finish,...
Read moreLet me tell you about our experience: phenomenal. Andrew, our server, deserves a standing ovation and maybe even his own Netflix comedy special for how gracefully he handled my brother’s truly terrible jokes. We’re talking “dad jokes on steroids” here, but Andrew didn’t just endure them—he laughed, and possibly even cried a little. What a champ.
The food? Oh, it wasn’t just food; it was meat art. Shoutout to the kitchen team for delivering culinary masterpieces and portion sizes that made us feel like royalty at an all-you-can-eat feast. I don’t know who’s running that kitchen, but they deserve a parade.
And the food runners, like Mark? This man deserves not just a Christmas bonus but maybe a spot on Santa’s sleigh. He worked so hard we half-expected him to start levitating trays with his mind.
Management? Friendly, attentive, and so considerate they might just restore your faith in humanity. If they’re not getting bonuses, I’m prepared to riot. And don’t even get me started on the hostess team. These heroes called us to let us know we’d left an envelope on the table. Now, I should mention it had $2000 in it (because why not add some flair), but the point is, they got it back to us without a single dollar missing. Trustworthy legends!
This place isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a haven of good vibes, great food, and incredible people. We’re already planning our next visit. Seriously, everyone here deserves a medal—or at least a raise. See you soon, very very soon!
Oh and the birthday Billy Pie never...
Read moreWent to the South Edmonton Common Keg on Nov 6 and was greeted happily, and our server was friendly to start with. That's about all I can say about her. She took our drink orders, and then took a while to come back with our drinks. After another wait she came and took our food orders, then she did not visit our table till it was time to clear the dishes. If she had come back after the food was delivered by the food runner, I could have told her that the steak I got was medium well, not medium rare. These things happen though so I wasn't angry with the grill staff and it could have been fixed quickly if she had been attentive. Since she didn't come back, I ate the sides because I was starving and that's it. The waitress ruined the evening for myself and my guest, and upon explaining it to her I basically got an eyeroll whatever sorry. The manager was nice enough to stop by so I let her know about the situation and hopefully she uses it as a coaching opportunity for her staff. She comped my dinner but I still wound up paying for my guest, and only tipped enough to cover the kitchen staff.
After this trip though, I will no longer frequent the Keg. I can't afford to waste my time on unpleasant experiences due to poorly trained staff. I go to the Keg for the experience, and if the wait staff don't care about how they contribute to that experience then there are other steak houses that have...
