Me and my friend came here after studying at the adjacent cafe. We bought the tonkotsu ramen, dragon combo sushi and the house special chicken teriyaki rice bowl. The rice bowl came room temp and the pork in the tonkotsu ramen was literally falling apart and full of fat when it came and the broth was whiter than any other tonkotsu ramen ive had. The dragon sushi was almost falling apart and the only good thing was the spring rolls that came with it (though they still tasted old). Was genuinely scared of getting food poisoning/salmonella from that place. We left a note saying that the food was cold and that we paid too much money for the quality that came out. It cost us almost $50 for the both of us for not good food. Was also expecting service at our table but we had to order at the counter like takeout, people who came after us waited 20+ minutes for their food because only two people were working at the time. This location is dingy and had horrible quality food, there are better sushi places in the area than this.

Good quality, fresh made sushi and noodle bowls. My favorite is the rainbow roll and dragon eye roll. I like a little spicy mayo on both. The Rainbow roll is especially good in the summer. It's cool and refreshing. The dragon eye roll is fried in tempura batter so it's fully cooked for anyone worried about raw sushi and is a great winter, rainy, or cooler day type of comfort food. But, let's be honest, I like both so much I eat both whenever I get the craving. Can't go wrong ordering either of these! - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rainbow Roll (average size roll): Tempura crumbs and fish roe. Topped with smoked salmon, cooked shrimp, and avocado. Dragon Eye Roll (taller roll): Crispy tempura roll with grilled salmon and crab meat.

It was a conflicting experience. Came in with a groupon offer, but that's not a reason for them to deliver a questionable food quality. The sashimi was reasonably sized and fresh. However, the chop chop battleship family favourite was really suspect in freshness. In the picture you can see that there are 5 made with very old chop chop mixture. The color from the tobiko has leeched out into the mayo over time and the RAW scallop was chopped more. This is an additional food borne illness issue as it increases the surface area for food borne pathogens to take hold and incubate. I'm terribly disappointed that we were served 5 really old chop chop and 3 fresh ones. This is definitely a health hazard and public safety concern.

Google Review for Tokyo Express

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My family and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Tokyo Express recently, and I cannot say enough about how fantastic the experience was. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and the festive atmosphere during the Christmas season made the experience even more special.

One of the highlights of our visit was Orlando, who provided exceptional service. Despite it being Christmas, one of the busiest times of the year, Orlando was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable meal. His dedication and hard work on a holiday when many people would rather be with their families did not go unnoticed, and it truly added to the holiday spirit.

The food, as always, was delicious. Everything from the sushi to the teriyaki bowls was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were generous, and the menu offered something for everyone, including vegetarians in our group.

What really sets Tokyo Express apart, though, is the combination of their high-quality food and impeccable customer service. Orlando is a shining example of what makes this place so special. His warm personality and genuine care for the customers turned a simple meal into a joyful celebration.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers not only amazing food but also an outstanding dining experience, Tokyo Express is the place to go. And if you’re lucky enough to have Orlando as your server, you’re in for a treat! We’ll definitely be back soon to enjoy more of this incredible establishment. Thank you, Tokyo Express, and a huge shout-out to Orlando for making our Christmas meal...

Ordered today while I was at the Edmonton office from Skip The Dishes and it was terrible. How can they have a 9.8 rating on that app?

I ordered a salmon combo and a chicken teriyaki bowl.

I threw away the salmon combo because the fish was VERY smelly and the texture was dry. Not to mention the rice was terrible too. I was so offended by that meal that I had to leave this review.

This was not the worst sushi I’ve had but officially the 2nd worst. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

How can they serve that? They have no respect for your hard earned money seeing as they’re willing to serve that.

Chicken teriyaki bowl was a bit below average. Unfortunately it was not good enough to quell my anger with their salmon combo.

Im not an Edmonton resident but my coworkers told me afterwards that they’ve never had a good experience. I should have asked them before I placed that order.

Disgusting....
